No newsletter by mail this time |
Fremont Township usually mails a newsletter by mail to our residents this time of year. We didn't have enough content to justify the expense, so you won't be receiving our newsletter in your mailbox. If you have new neighbors, tell them about our email newsletter. Not everyone is on our email list and we appreciate you forwarding information and encouraging friends to join. |
Scam Alert: ComEd has seen an increase in reports of individuals calling ComEd customers and falsely claiming their electric service will be disconnected unless payment is made. These impersonators instruct customers to buy a prepaid credit card and call back to a different phone number with personal information. They also use a tactic called "Caller ID spoofing" to manipulate the displayed phone number so that it appears as a ComEd number. |

Join our garden volunteers |
The garden is presently sleeping after a productive 2014 season! Plans are underway for additions to the garden in 2015, including a garden shed, and a number of scout projects that will enrich the minds of the kids as well as the ecology of the garden. The shed is a collaborative project between VHM and Mundelein High School shop students. Staying within VHM's mission for sustainability, they will be using reclaimed materials to finish the shed as much as possible. Adorning the shed in the future will be a solar panel for electrical power in the garden and a rain barrel to harvest rain water.
Weather permitting, planting will resume in early spring, starting with cool weather crops, such as spinach, lettuce, arugula, and parsnips. They will also sow some cool weather cover crops to add organic matter to the soil in the areas that will not be planted until late May.
The mission of the garden is to provide organically grown and loved vegetables for the Fremont Township food pantry, as well as serving as an outdoor classroom for kids and adults of all ages to experience the beauty and reward of growing food and caring for the earth.
We welcome new volunteers. Come out and meet new friends. If you would like to volunteer in the garden, keep track of our work days on our Facebook group: Fremont Township Community Garden
Or you may contact Alicia, the garden coordinator, at adodd67@comcast.net
If you would like to donate to the garden, they can use tools in good condition, soaker hoses, native flowers, and money for purchasing fruit trees and raspberry canes. |

Recycle towels, sheets, blankets, eye glasses, shoes
|
I am amazed at the donations we receive for the local Animal Shelters. They are all being used and there is a demand. We really appreciate Tracy Oliver and her continued dedication in delivering these items to our local shelters.
If you have used towels, sheets or blankets that need to be recycled, please consider bringing them to Fremont Township at 22385 Rt 60, Mundelein to be donated to local Animal Shelters. Please drop them in the bin on the front porch. This keeps them out of the landfill and puts them to good use.
We also accept eye glasses and shoes to be recycled year round. If you drop off shoes with laces, we appreciate you tying the laces together. |
