Route 53 Presentation on Monday
The Daily Herald reported that Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor will talk to the Mundelein Village Board on Monday, Dec. 15, about the proposed Route 53 extension into Lake County. The meeting is set for 6 p.m. at Village Hall, 300 Plaza Circle.
Don't be duped about your deed

SCAM ALERT!!

Some Lake County Residents have been receiving letters from a company calling themselves, "Local Records Office" in which the resident is told they can be provided with a copy of their deed by mailing in an $89 service fee!

These letters ARE NOT from the Lake County Recorder of Deeds office and this is a SCAM!

You can get a copy of your deed, or other recorded paperwork, from Mary Ellen Vanderventer, Recorder of Deeds office for $1 per page, or for no fee if you are a Senior Citizen or US Veteran! Call 847 377-2575.

More Scams!!!!
I continue to hear about scams with people calling saying they are from the IRS and Microsoft.  These people are so convincing.  Area residents are also receiving calls stating your grandchild is in Canada and received a DUI and they need money.  They actually lead you to believe you are speaking to an attorney.  Please alert your friends, parents and grandparents that these are all scams.  I also had a resident bring a notice from National Vehicle Protection Services trying to get you to update a vehicle contract.  Don't fall for any of these!!!!
Recycle Clothing and Textiles

It is estimated that nearly 85% of all clothing and textiles end up in landfills in the U.S. today. The EPA estimates that the average person throws away 70 pounds of clothing each year. Textile and clothing waste is a significant problem in our country. It is estimated that anywhere from 5-10% of all waste that is sent to municipal landfills is comprised of textiles. These items are often very dense and consume significant landfill space.

With those statistics in mind, and a goal to increase recycling, SWALCO is establishing a new community-wide program where clothing and textiles can be collected for recycling. The program will accept new, gently used, used or unwanted/worn, women's, men's and children's clothing and textiles. All fabrics will be accepted. Even clothes or textiles with stains or holes will be accepted. The great news too, is that almost 95% of the materials collected will be re-purposed or recycled.

Where do I recycle clothing and textiles?

Recycle towels, sheets, blankets, eye glasses, shoes
If you have used towels, sheets or blankets that need to be recycled, please consider bringing them to Fremont Township at 22385 Rt 60, Mundelein to be donated to local Animal Shelters. Please drop them in the bin on the front porch. This keeps them out of the landfill and puts them to good use.
