Keep Your Homes and Car Doors Locked

Message from Mundelein Police Chief Guenther

Recently, some 20 vehicles in a Mundelein neighborhood reportedly were opened and surveyed by potential thieves. According to police, of the 20 vehicles gone through, 5 had property taken, however, after speaking with the owners of the vehicles, ALL BUT 1 STATED THEY LEFT THE VEHICLE UNLOCKED. The Mundelein Police Department strongly encourages residents to be mindful of important security measures to take in neighborhoods, homes, and automobiles.  Residents must be diligent in locking up cars, garages, and residences.  Do not leave laptops, cell phones and other expensive items and equipment in your automobile which would be visible to the passerby.  Be sure to report any suspicious behavior or people in your neighborhood.

I received an email from a Mundelein resident whose house was broken into and jewelry and cash taken.  It is up to us all to be aware of what is going on in our neighborhood.  If you see something that looks suspicious, call the local police department.
