Homeowners 65 and older-Are you receiving your property tax exemptions?

I am seeing homeowners who are not aware they should file for their senior exemption when one of the homeowners reaches the age of 65.

  • Have reached age 65 during the tax year.
  • Apply for the exemption your local Township Assessor's office. You will need to bring a copy of the deed to the property and proof of age when you apply. If the property is held in trust, you will also need a copy of the trust agreement indicating the beneficiary and signature page.

Not sure if you are receiving your exemption?  Call the Fremont Assessor's Office at 847 223-2846.

Public Input Sessions in Route 53/120 Corridor
Below find the invite from CMAP

Please join us to discuss land use, natural resources, quality of life, economic
development, and transportation issues in central Lake County.

Since March 2014, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and its partners have undertaken a collaborative planning initiative to create a Land Use Plan for the proposed Illinois Route 53/120 Corridor. This effort is not for the road itself, but for the communities and natural areas along the proposed corridor.

Your input will help ensure that the Illinois Route 53/120 Corridor Land Use Plan will protect community assets - including vital natural resources and quality of life - and identify opportunities to improve recreation, increase access to transit, promote efficient and effective land use, and enhance
    economic development.

Please attend an upcoming Open House to review initial study findings
and provide input on your priorities for the corridor:

    Wednesday, November 12, 2014
Byron Colby Barn at Prairie Crossing
    1561 Jones Point Road
    Grayslake, IL
    Open House: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

    Wednesday, November 19, 2014
Lake Zurich High School - Cafeteria
    300 Church Street
    Lake Zurich, IL
    Open House: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Meeting sites are accessible to persons with disabilities.
For those who cannot attend either meeting, please visit www.lakecorridorplan.org for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the Corridor Land Use Plan. While
there, check out CMAPS video that illustrates the benefits of collaborative corridor planning and sign up to receive notice about future Open House meetings or workshops.

Two Forest Preserves Open for Evening Hikes

Solar-lighted trails remain open on a trial basis through March 30

With small solar lights to guide their way, hikers, skiers and snowshoers can take advantage of this year's snow and cold temperatures to enjoy some brisk evening exercise along the 1.3-mile fitness trail at Old School Forest Preserve in Libertyville, and along a 1.65-mile hilly section of the Millennium Trail adjacent to the Winter Sports Area at Lakewood Forest Preserve in Wauconda.

Though regular preserve hours are 6:30 am to sunset, the illuminated trails and adjacent parking lots will remain open after sunset until 9 pm, daily, through Saturday, March 30. Bicycle and equestrian traffic is not permitted on the lighted trails after sunset. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed.

To access the lighted trails, park at Lakewood's Winter Sports Area located on the east side of Fairfield Road just south of Route 176, or at Old School's main entrance lot located on the east side of St. Mary's Road just south of Route 176. Lake County Forest Preserve Rangers regularly patrol the areas.

Hike Lake County program runs through November 30.

Complete just seven of the hikes by November 30, and you'll earn a commemorative shield for your walking stick. Use the Travel Log to record each hike. Every hiker needs their own. Bicycling or horseback riding do not count toward the program.

Let your canine companion join in the fun and complete the hikes with you. Record their name on your Travel Log and your dog will receive a commemorative dog tag (up to three dogs). You can even purchase an optional Hike Lake County dog collar to hang it on.

To receive your free dog tag, or commemorative shield for your walking stick, submit your Travel Log online, bring it to any Hike Lake County Center (see below), or mail it with a self-addressed stamped envelope to Lake County Forest Preserves, 1899 West Winchester Road, Libertyville, IL 60048, by January 31, 2015.
