Huge Recycling event in Libertyville October 11
Time for the 9th Annual Recycle-O-Rama on Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Libertyville DOT. SWALCO has been putting these events together for several years so residents can find a home for hard-to-recycle items and keep them from the landfill. We're recycling "tons" (literally) of stuff! In addition to recycling numerous items, we'll be collecting and donating bikes here in the community, food (to local food pantry) and prom dresses to the Glass Slipper Project. Visit swalco.org for a link to the flyer and more info. Look forward to seeing you there!

Prescription Drug Event a Success
The September 27, 2014 prescription drug take back was a HUGE success!  Thank you to all that made this day so successful! The Fremont Township drop-off location took back a grand total of 145.4 pounds of prescription drugs, followed by the Beach Park drop-off location with 134 pounds, and the Volo drop-off location with 13.5 pounds. This means a grand total of 292.9 POUNDS of unwanted/unused prescription drugs were taken off the streets in just these 3 locations. If you missed the event, check your local police department to see if they have a prescription drug drop off box.

I did receive questions regarding the disposal of needles.  Lake Villa Township has a needle disposal container in their lobby. 37908 N. Fairfield Rd., Lake Villa, IL 60046. (847) 356-2116
Your donation of towels and blankets are appreciated
As you know we have been recycling bedding and towels at Fremont Township that go to Animal Rescue and Animal Control facilities.  These are two little premature pups that benefited from the donations.

Please consider bringing your items to Fremont Township at 22385 Rt 60, Mundelein to be donated to local Animal Shelters. You drop them in the bin on the front porch. This keeps them out of the landfill and puts them to good use.

We also accept eye glasses and shoes to be recycled year round.
