Mary Ann's blog!

We celebrate girls every single day here at The Get In Touch Foundation.

We are committed to providing girls with our free lifesaving breast health educational initiative because we value their lives.

If you haven't seen the really wonderful #LikeAGirl video that was released last summer but burst onto the scene as a commercial during the Super Bowl, we wanted to make sure you had the chance to see it, so here is the link - please watch, and please share it with the girls - and boys! - in your life.

When each of my now adult daughters got their first period I rejected my mom's well-intentioned suggestion to "treat the poor girl to an ice cream" as a way of somehow making her feel better about what was happening. In other words, tell them they should feel badly, and then reward them with a prize - food, of all things - for having to endure the 'trauma' of menstruation. Augh.

Instead, I gave them each a simple gold ring that held a teeny-tiny garnet, and reminded them that this was another wonderful, beautiful part of being a woman, of being a girl.

It's good to be a girl! It's good to be a boy! You know something...it's just plain good to be alive!

Hope Lives!

Los Angeles Pretty In Pink
Join us on Thursday, March 12th at 11:30am for
The Get In Touch Foundation's
2nd Annual Los Angeles Pretty In Pink Luncheon & Women of Strength Awards
at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills.

New York City Pretty In Pink

We are thrilled that our friend Alex Witt from "Weekends with Alex Witt" on MSNBC is chairing The Get In Touch Foundation's 3rd Annual New York City Pretty In Pink Cocktail Cabaret & Woman of Strength Award - and so delightfully fitting since we are honoring broadcast journalism trailblazer Shirley Wershba, one of the founding producers of CBS' 60 Minutes.

Shirley and her late-husband Joe were the subject of George Clooney's 2005 film, "Good Night, and Good Luck," nominated for six Academy Awards. Patricia Clarkson played Shirley in the film, and Robert Downey, Jr. played her husband Joe.

Broadway's inimitable Jim Ferris will be our host again this year, bringing along a stellar mix of Broadway's finest to perform throughout the evening.

Join us on February 25th from 7-9pm at The Yale Club of NYC in the Roof Dining Room.

Daisy Wheel against map

Presenting a Daisy Wheel to newly-diagnosed patients who have daughters or granddaughters who would benefit from breast health education makes a diagnosis in a family a life giving moment as well as a teaching moment.  Daisy Wheels may be purchased for $5 each and come in packages of 25. When you purchase a Daisy Wheel, you are also helping to provide a Daisy Wheel to a girl somewhere in the world who will have FREE breast health education because of YOU!  It's simple..."When you get one, you give one!"

Click the Daisy Wheel on the right to find out more.

Download our FREE Daisy Wheel App

We are over the moon about the Daisy Wheel App,

which has been downloaded in 83 countries!  If you're an iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone user, go to the iTunes App Store and download it for free.

If you love it as much as we do, we'd be grateful if you'd help us spread the word by telling your friends and writing a review, too.

It's making our mission to "change the world one girl at a time" a global reality!
