Mary Ann's blog!

October and November were busy months for Get In Touch!

Our 9th Annual Pretty In Pink Brunch & Women of Strength Awards honored three generations of women as well as two philanthropic young girls who created an entire company around giving back!

I traveled to Amsterdam to speak to students about the importance of breast health education, and then to Ireland where I met with health officials in County Sligo to discuss implementation of our program in schools there.

Our supporters ran marathons for Get In Touch this fall, held fundraising events in their shops and in their offices, and schools held "GIT Your Pink On!" Days that knocked our socks off!

We cherish your support and are ever grateful for the faith you continue to have in us as we roll our 500,000th Daisy Wheel into the hands of a girl who will be smarter and healthier for having this information - because of YOU.

Hope Lives!

Daviess County High School GITs Their Pink On!

Our friends at Daviess County High School in Kentucky outdid themselves this year for their annual "GIT Your Pink On!" Day festivities!  They sold custom tee-shirts,
had an all-school assembly, had a "PINK OUT" at the football game,
and even had a classroom door-decorating contest!

Thank you, Daviess County High School, for your generous donation of $3300  to
The Get In Touch Foundation, and for helping us continue our mission!

GIT Goes to The House

We are honored that Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz mentioned The Get In Touch Foundation when she spoke on the U.S. House Floor to recognize the close of Breast Health/Cancer Awareness Month. It has been a privilege to work with her on the EARLY Act, and we are grateful for all her support!

GIT Visits The International School of Amsterdam

It was an honor and a privilege to have been invited to speak at The International School of Amsterdam in early November.  School Nurse Anita Lieftinck is a strong advocate of Get In Touch and our mission of breast health education, and has been implementing the program at ISA since our launch in 2009.

I was thrilled to speak to students, faculty and several parent groups while visiting this exceptional state-of-the-art school which celebrates the culture of 50 nations for its over 1000 students who attend from pre-school through high school.

The high school students impressed me with their thoughtful questions and compassionate observations.  Many students had mothers who were breast cancer survivors or were currently being treated for breast cancer.  They were surprised to learn that men can get breast cancer, and sincere when thanking me for traveling so far in order to spend time with them.

Thank you, International School of Amsterdam and School Nurse Anita Lieftinck,
for your passionate commitment to breast health education!

WE DID IT!

Milford, Connecticut "Pretty In Pink

Great River Golf Club was the setting for our 9th annual Milford, Connecticut Pretty In Pink Brunch &
Women of Strength Awards on October 13th.

The fabulous Teresa Younger, Executive Director of the CT Permanent Commission on the Status of Women and newest Get In Touch Foundation board member
was our host, and our good friend, Connecticut Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman was there to welcome our guests and speak to them about the importance of breast health and education.

Woman of Strength Dawn White-Bracey spoke eloquently about her mother and grandmother, Linda White-Epps and Phyllis W. White, with whom she was honored for their generational work with the New Haven-based support group, Sisters' Journey.

We were all dazzled by the irrepressible Soledad and Isabela Meade, ages 9 and 11,
who received a Special Recognition Award for their philanthropic work with their company, Rock On Creations!

Hope Lives!

Run, Run, Run!!!

Laces For Lana hit the road for 26.2 miles in the Madison, Wisconsin Marathon on November 10th...a good luck charm for runner/FINISHER Chrissy Wiegand! Congratulations, Chrissy, thanks for sharing this picture with us!

And...our friend Soledad Meade (mother to Rock On Creations Superstars Soledad and Isablea!) raised nearly $1300 for The Get In Touch Foundation by running two marathons this fall!

In October, she completed the New Hampshire Marathon in 3:37, followed by the Philadelphia Marathon in November, where she finished the race in 3:41!

We are grateful to all of Soledad's friends and family who made donations to Get In Touch in honor of her run.  KUDOS, Soledad, we are so proud of you!
