Mary Ann's blog!

Greetings!

We know it's the end of October, but we want to take a look back at all the month had in store for Get In Touch!

The Get In Touch Foundation refers to October as Breast HEALTH Awareness Month, always focusing on what we need to do in order to be breast-healthy.

We also made the announcement that we changed our Mission Statement to reflect the growing number of men that are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

The mission of the Get In Touch Foundation is to provide breast health initiatives that educate gals and guys of all ages how to "get in touch" with their bodies, information, and each other in our crusade against breast cancer.

In the US alone, 2500 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and 25% of men with breast cancer will die each year.

Those numbers are high and it is important for boys to know that men can get breast cancer, too...it's time for them to "get in touch."

Thank you for all you do to help us in our mission.

Hope Lives!

GIT + YMCA = Fab Partnership!

The Get In Touch Foundation was invited by the YMCA of Greater Providence to pilot our Get In Touch Girls' Program at the Bayside YMCA in Barrington, Rhode Island.  We recently we met with a few girls and their moms along with several YMCA Officers and began brainstorming.

We are excited about the opportunities that lay ahead for GIT and the 2600+ chapters of the YMCA in the US alone!  Here's the Y's tagline...you can see why we are a perfect fit!  The Y: For youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Girl Power!

I loved spending time with a Connecticut Girl Scout Troop and Honorary Chairperson of the Get In Touch Youth Ambassador Committee, Rebecca Lobo, along with Youth Ambassador Liaison Katie Tripp, educating girls on the importance of breast self-exam.

And those Rock On Girls - 11 year old Isabella Meade, and her 9 year old sister Soledad are at it again...they raised $350 for us at Milford's annual Cap'n Kidd Treasure Hunt Pirate's Day.  Rock ON and thank you, Isabella and Soledad!

GITin' Pink On!

October 18 was GIT Your Pink On! Day and we felt the love and support from so many places.  Here are a couple of pics from GIT fans who wore pink and donated funds to help us accomplish our mission.  Look for more pics next month!
