Greetings!
If Helen Keller can make a statement like that, well, we should all approach life as if it is a 'daring adventure,' shouldn't we?
My summer has been one 'daring adventure' after another...
I've been speaking to School Nurses at conferences all over the country... and I've started my book tour!
I've been impressed by the selflessness of one of our former Youth Ambassadors who chose to spend the summer involved in a literacy program halfway around the world...and I have been delighted to receive support for our program from a neighboring community!
We've been working hard on our 9th Annual Milford, Connecticut Pretty In Pink for October...and thrilled about our 1st Annual Cape Cod Pretty In Pink for September!
I love life and it is loving me right back...how about you?
Hope Lives!

Spotlight on: The Author!
Yellow Umbrella Books on Cape Cod in Chatham, Massachusetts was a perfect summer spot for one of my most recent book signings, where proceeds from the sale of " A Diary of Healing: My Intense and Meaningful Life With Cancer, " were contributed to GIT. Thanks for the invite, Yellow Umbrella Books, we are grateful!

The lovely Sophie Cappello, former Get In Touch Youth Ambassador, introduces the Daisy Wheel to her students at Bettyked Preparatory School in Ghana, where she is volunteering with a literacy program this summer. We all know when you educate a girl, you educate the world - KUDOS, Sophie!!!!

"Evening with the Author" in Springfield, Virginia...
I thoroughly enjoyed our "evening with the author" event to benefit Get In Touch at the home of a dear friend who lives in Virginia. A dozen or so guests nibbled on cookies and sipped pink lemonade while I read from my book. We chatted and laughed, and each incredible woman who attended made a generous donation to Get In Touch. Special thanks to Mary Shea Newell for making this delightful event possible! If you'd like to host an "evening with the author" fundraising event, in which you host a reading/signing with Mary Ann at your home or business, contact us for more information at info@getintouchfoundation.org

Thanks, Mayor!
KUDOS to Stratford, Connecticut Mayor John Harkins!
Here we are at City Hall where he presented me with a check to Get In Touch
for $1,000 from the proceeds of his annual Mayor's Golf Tournament.

2013 Virginia Summer Institute for School Nursing
It was thrilling to be the keynote speaker last month at the Summer Institute for School Nursing, held on the lovely campus of Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia!
Spending time with 280 School Nurses willing to give up a week of their summer vacation for professional development...well, let's just say I continue to be awed by these she-roes - and a couple of he-roes, as well!
Here I am taking the group through our newly launched website, showing them our Daisy Wheel and explaining how they can place their orders online to receive our free program.

"Pretty In Pink"
Did you know that Pretty In Pink events across the country are significant fundraisers for GIT? We'd love to grow the list of cities who've hosted PIPs for us. They don't need to become annual events, or even be huge productions...just gather a group, honor a Woman of Strength (a breast cancer survivor who'd like to share her story and inspire others) and invite a member of the survivor's "healing team" to share their story, too.
Next up: Cape Cod, MA on September 17
Join us at sunset for jazz, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres
to honor Woman of Strength Trisha Daly-Karlson
Wequassett Resort, Harwich, MA
5:30 - 8:00pm
Presented by:
...and Milford, CT on October13!
If you're interested in hosting a Pretty In Pink event for Get In Touch,

Where in the World is YOUR Daisy Wheel?!
Look, the "traveling Daisy Wheel" made it to Dubai! That's the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, in the background. Pretty cool!
And, if that weren't enough, we spotted the Daisy Wheel in Bangkok, too, at a celebration of the queen's birthday. You can see that photo, and others, on Instagram (how-to's below).
That Daisy Wheel sure does GIT around...
If you've got a picture of your Daisy Wheel - or of yourself in your GIT gear - email it to us and you just may see yourself in an upcoming newsletter...and be sure to follow us on Instagram...click the camera below, or here: DaisyWheelGIT
Please email your pics to info@getintouchfoundation.org.
