Greetings!
How do you spell "inspiration?"
We celebrate many things in the month of May... this year Nurse's Week is the first week of May... National School Nurse Day is May 8th... International School Nurse Day is May 12th... National Teacher's Day is May 7th... and Mother's Day is May 12th.
Well, I certainly am inspired by Nurses, Teachers, and Mothers.
Women (and men) who have committed their lives to the service of others.
Get In Touch salutes these remarkable individuals as they continue to care for the most vulnerable in our society, and our most precious gift of all - our children.
Be inspired...thank a Nurse, a School Nurse, a Teacher, or a Mom - and she doesn't even have to be your own!
Enjoy our newsletter this month, it is chock-full of wonderful Get In Touch happenings and information...be inspired!
Hope Lives!

Spotlight on: School Nurse Day!
May 8th is National School Nurse Day!
School Nurses are on the front lines of health care for children in every country around the globe.
Be sure to thank a School Nurse for all that she - or he! - does for our children.
If you are a School Nurse and would like to learn more about the National Association of School Nurses, click here.
Their mission is simple and we are proud to support them, and to have their support:
"A non-profit specialty nursing organization which represents school nurses, and is dedicated to improving the health and educational success of children."

Daisy Wheels are on their way to Laos and Vietnam, the 22nd and 23rd countries in which our program is being implemented. And, Sri Lanka and Tunisia are the 77th and 78th countries in which our free Daisy Wheel App has been downloaded.
Girls in Asia and Africa are learning about breast health and we couldn't be happier!

Charlotte's Pretty In Pink
The Duke Mansion was graced with the presence of many lovely ladies (and handsome gentlemen, too!) for Charlotte's inaugural Pretty In Pink event, presented by Levine Cancer Institute. Women of Strength Molly Grantham and Wilsie Moss Hartman were honored. Many thanks to Cathleen Foley, Kaitlin Jacobs, Dale Jennings and their team of volunteers for their amazing effort in hosting such a great evening. |
Theology on Tap at Catholic University
I was thrilled to have been invited last month to speak at Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, at their "Theology on Tap."
CUA student Casey Lilley, pictured with me here, is a former Get In Touch Youth Ambassador, and responsible for introducing the Get In Touch Girls' Program & Daisy Wheels to his hometown of Wethersfield, Connecticut.
I spoke to a group of several hundred students, many of whom have already contacted me, wanting to introduce our program to their former high schools when they head home for summer break. Many students spoke to me about their own mothers and their journey with breast cancer, and what it has meant to their family and their lives going forward.
All students gave me hope in a future filled with compassionate, smart, thoughtful, engaged young men and women working hard to make the world a healthier, safer, and happier place. Hope Lives!

On the set of NYBERG...
I was interviewed last month by Connecticut's WTNH-TV newscaster Ann Nyberg for a segment of her popular program, NYBERG.
Ann and I sat down to talk about my breast cancer diagnosis nine years ago and how my own daughters were the impetus for The Get In Touch Foundation and our Get In Touch Girls' Program & Daisy Wheels.
We talked about my new book, "A Diary of Healing," and what is in store for the next chapter of my life.
If you'd like to see the interview in its entirety, click here.
*Full disclosure...Ann is a good friend, she's even hosted our Connecticut Pretty In Pink & Women of Strength Awards Brunch...I think it makes this interview even sweeter and hope you do, too!
