Happy New Year,  !

I love the quote above by my friend Porntip Bhunsang, Senior School Nurse at Ruamrudee International School in Bangkok, Thailand.

I first met Porntip when I spoke at the International School Nurses of Asia Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2011, and we became fast friends.

Porntip loved the mission of Get In Touch and knew how important breast health education would be for girls in Thailand.  She returned to Bangkok and worked diligently to secure the permission necessary to implement our program in her school.

Last month, nearly two years after we first met, Daisy Wheels arrived in Thailand and beloved Senior School Nurse Porntip Bhunsang's dream came true - her students would learn the importance of, and how to do a breast self exam - for life!

As we begin 2013, I wanted to share these words from my wise friend, Porntip Bhunsang, with you.

May your new year be filled with wisdom, wise friends, and joy...always joy!

Spotlight on Schools:

The Ruamrudee International School in Bangkok,Thailand recently held a  "GIT Your Pink On!" Day, in conjunction with their implementation of The Get In Touch Girls' Program.

My friend, Senior School Nurse Porntip Bhunsang, with the support and assistance of High School Red Cross Club Advisor and Science Teacher Sabrena Baiagern, as well as enthusiastic members of the Student Council and nurses from the school clinic, organized a day filled with pink ribbons and pink cookies, all sold to raise money for Get In Touch.

They commemorated the day with a tapestry of handprints, and even had nurses and staff from three local hospitals join them that day for a day of breast health education.  Nurse Porntip (in the bottom picture, on the right) tells me they are already looking forward to planning next year's event!

Kudos to the Fairfield Fire Fighters Association...

for choosing Get In Touch as the beneficiary of their first fundraiser via their new charitable foundation. They sold pink tee-shirts to the tune of a $1,455.00 donation, and listened intently as I shared our Daisy Wheel and explained how many girls would receive life-saving information because of their generosity.

These wonderful folks save lives...in more ways than one!
