If there was a heaven, it was for dogs

If there was a heaven
It was meant for dogs

heaven would have
no war or segregation
just love and bacon

none would be turned away
because a dog doesn't know if your gay
he wouldn't even care anyway

heaven would be a place where
you get your own comfy chair
complete with dog hair
and playful barks is a prayer

Heaven would be shag-rugs
and green lawns
garbage cans
and sprinklers
summer
and love

if there is a heaven
its where my dog belongs
because that's where he's from along

 Hello Dal Lover!

Our work is never done, so no sooner are we done with one event then it's off to the next one. PLEASE SAVE THIS DATE; Sunday, December 11th @ 5pm for our 2016 Annual Fundraiser at Hamburger Mary's Clearwater Location. Due to scheduling we will plan for a picnic this spring. Meanwhile, we hope you all have a Happy 4th of July and please keep your pets safe through the festivities.

"My view is quite simple. When your dog pees on the carpet, you do not give away your dog. You say, This dog is special. I have to teach him not to pee on the carpet. I feel exactly the same way about men. They need to be taught things." - Jacqueline Bisset
Another Needy Spot Arrives From Lake County
JAXX is heartworm positive

Tracy D., a long time DRTB adopter and volunteer, just lost her Missy (a Dal-mix Tracy had adopted from us years ago). Despite her sadness over Missy's loss, Tracy has stepped up to the plate to foster JAXX thus saving his young life. He is a two-year-old Dal-mix who tested as a strong positive for heartworms. Yet another victim of neglect from an uncaring owner. Now, thanks to Tracy, JAXX will be treated and will be able to find a loving, caring home of his own. His face, like Everett's, is one that is hard to turn down.

It will be a long road back to health for JAXX... two months of pain & recuperation from the shots necessary to kill the heartworms that would have eventually killed him. Heartworm treatment is expensive, even with our rescue discount. If you'd like to contribute to JAXX, we would be forever grateful. You can use this DONATE link to reach the donate button on our website to help this little spotted guy. THANK YOU!
Snappers FUNdraiser A Success
The dogs and cats were the big winners

Our June 9th FUNraiser at Snappers was a wonderful success for the pets of DRTB and Meow Now with whom we shared this event and split proceeds. Many thanks go to Kathey W. who donated generously in memory of her Pepper, a DRTB rescue, and Craig M. who provided raffle baskets of Josh's Firehouse Treats & Mr. B's Chicken Jerky. Also to all the DRTBer's who turned out to support us that evening.
The Pleas For Help Keep Coming Our Way
We can only help when fosters are available

We try to help as much as possible, so with the assistance of a past adopter who was willing to foster we were able to take JAXX into rescue. June was also the month of returnees... DOC, LILLY, & SNOOPY are back for another chance at love and hopefully those homes will appear soon. Best news is that GINSENGEVERETT were adopted and our paws are cross that they are HOME!

So for 2016, with 8 dogs carrying over from 2015, we've taken in 14 new dogs & 3 courtesy posts, and of this 18 have been adopted into loving homes. We still have 9 care-for-lifers, leaving our current responsibility of caring for 18 Dals & dogs... ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS!

Your help is very much needed, especially getting these dogs noticed at events or shared on social media.

Our Dals & dogs, in various stages of readiness, seeking their forever homes are:

We list all our adoptable dogs on www.Petfinder.com. PLEASE let us know if you can help these dogs with a loving home or getting them to events so that they might get adopted!
Everett's Happy Landing
Second time was a charm

Poor little EVERETT... it took a couple of false starts before this confused, young, adorable, Dal-Mix found his forever home. Pulled from Lake Co. Animal Control, EVERETT's photo on Petfinder became an instant hit. He has the cutest little face. However, having been shuttled from home to home, created a few behavior issues that he needed to overcome.

Thanks to foster-Dad Tony, EVERETT was finally able to feel some security. Now he has landed his final home with Rachael and Nick who say he will be with them forever. A young couple with another rescue dog and cat, EVERETT worked his way quickly into their hearts when he gave Rachael a big dog hug upon first meeting them. On his first night in his new home, he ended up in their bed at midnight snuggling like a little baby. Despite a couple of potty accidents, they now say they don't even want to go to work in the morning because EVERETT looks so sad when they leave him. They are totally head over heels for this twice abandoned spotted boy. We only wish there were more committed dog guardians out there like this couple who will give these poor confused dogs time to settle in.
