The families dog was bought for a guard,
Chained to a post in a chilly backyard,
Housed in a shed that was airless and dark,
And every few weeks had a run in the park.
When boredom set in with no fun and no work,
One day it broke loose and went quietly beserk.
Pa couldn't fathom just why it went wild,
As it flattened his wife and then bit his child.
The police were called in to sort out the mess,
And the whole sorry tale was revealed by the press,
The Rescue Society was really annoyed,
So, the dog was rehomed--and the owners destroyed

Update On Our Ginseng and Lola Pleas
One still NEEDS your HELP
We are happy to announce that 5-month-old deaf GINSENG has found a foster home. Thanks to Alison B. for going to meet the transport and take her home to her boys while waiting to meet her foster home. Typical Dal puppy, GINSENG is full of fun, sweetness and play, play, play. She has a tail that wags non-stop. We have her posted for adoption on Petfinder but are secretly hoping that Lynne, her foster mom, will become her forever home :-)
On a sad note, after two pleas for our adorable LOLA, we still can't find a foster home. Despite her being a pit mix, she is the most loving dog ever!! We took her in as she was a volunteer favorite and didn't let us down. She lives with 8 other dogs and loves every one of them. We still need to get her into a foster home, as we need the space in our Miami foster's home for the constant influx of black and white rescues from the shelter down there.
PLEASE HELP US FIND LOLA A FOREVER OR FOSTER HOME. We promise you won't be sorry.

A Trio of Lake County Dogs Swam Our Way
A little Cajun spice came our way too
This was a busy month for us. With the help of some pawsome fosters we were able to take into rescue EVERETT, ROSIE, ARCHIE, & GINSENG. We know they aren't the usual Dals, but are wonderful dogs and will make loving pets.
Our best news is HEIDI, PEACH, NINA, PRINCESS, & LILLY BELLE are all adopted and TUG's adoption is now complete.
So for 2016, with 8 dogs carrying over from 2015, we've taken in 14 new dogs & 3 courtesy posts, and of this 16 have been adopted into loving homes. We now have 9 care-for-lifers, leaving our current responsibility of caring for 15 Dals & dogs... ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS!
Your help is very much needed, especially getting these dogs noticed at events or shared on social media.
Our Dals & dogs, in various stages of readiness, seeking their forever homes are:
Lola |
|
Rosie
HW Tx
| Archie HW Tx |
We list all our adoptable dogs on www.Petfinder.com. PLEASE let us know if you can help these dogs with a loving home or getting them to events so that they might get adopted!

We LOVE Repeat DRTB "Customers"
Go out and save another :)
We love it when previous DRTB adopters come back to adopt yet another one of our rescues. Jeanelle and her husband have had a couple of our spots in the past and recently stepped up to take another. Katie is a slightly older Dal-mix who came to us from Polk County with quite a few problems to fix. Thanks to Super Foster Mom Karen H. in Gainesville, Katie found her way to health and happiness. All that was needed was a forever home. As you can see from the email we received below, Katie will now be loved and given the best care for the rest of her life. Thank you all for helping Katie. "Hello, All- Just wanted to send an update pic of our dear daughter, Katie. She is doing great...has put on 10 lbs! Her right dew claw never did get any better even after a full series of antibiotics so she had surgery to get both dew claws removed. She came through it like a trooper and is totally pain free. While she was under, I took the opportunity to get some of the larger, troublesome cysts/growths removed. She looked a bit like a patchwork quilt. Her fur has grown in beautifully though...a very nice thick coat much like Jenny's, her Lab sister. We have had to change some of the doorknobs in the house as we have learned Katie knows how to open doors. She adores her afternoon rides so she had a tendency to open the interior garage door at the traveling time and let herself and her siblings out to sit by their car waiting for one of us chauffeurs to show up ...too funny. Hope all is well with each of you. Katie sends a big hello and an even bigger thanks for all your efforts getting her to her forever home! Best Regards-Jeanelle"
