Dogged Determination

Our neighbor's dog, when on the loose,
Prefers our yard for doggist use.
He makes a bee-line (dog-line, rather)
His eyes agleam, his mouth a-lather,
To certain plants and tufts of grass,
The ones we cherish most, alas.
His visits make them wilt and shrivel
And to our neighbors we're not civil.
Why can't their dog stay home? One glowers.
Their plants should serve as well as ours.
But neighbor here with neighbor shares:
Our dog, when loosened, goes for theirs.

Despite being on "break" it seems there is a lot of rescuing still going on, albeit a slightly slower pace. We just can't let the dogs down. Please see if there are ways you can help our kids by volunteering to do an event or fostering. Volunteer/Fosters are key to making our rescue work! Thanks all!

One More Qatar Dal Coming Our Way
Dakota arrives this March & needs a home

Dakota is a seven-year-old boy that is in need of a new home. His owner in Qatar is facing visa issues & will have to move soon which leaves poor Dakota in a predicament. These larger dogs (many beautiful purebreds) face a dire life there in the desert. His owner heard about all the wonderful adopters who have stepped up for the other Dalmatians from Qatar so Paws Rescue of Qatar will help send him our way. He's been gaining back some lost weight and filling out so all we are doing now is waiting for a KLM or Lufthansa flight to bring him to the US. So, if anyone has a "spot" for this handsome dude, please let us know!
Oops, We Did It Again...
Or, What's up DOC?

So, even while we try to catch ourselves a break, the sad faces & pleas keep on coming. Lucky for DOC it came at a time a foster was willing to save another. Gregg P. opened his home to this handsome spotted-mix and we hope he will soon find his new home. We also had three adoptions in the new year. MICHAEL, KATIE, and LUCY all found new homes.

Recall that Lucy is the girl we pulled from Polk County after her owners failed to come get her and then cost DRTB $2,000 to get her leg fixed. Thanks to your generosity her bill was covered! So now Lucy has found her forever home with a loving family. The family already had a cute lab mix named Malcolm, but their 17-year-old son wanted a dog to call his own. No way is he ever giving Lucy up. Lucy now spends her days playing with Malcolm and being adored by her young dog dad. This is what rescue is all about. Our many thanks to Tony for being such a wonderful foster Dad!

So for 2016, with 8 dogs carrying over from 2015, we took in 1 dog, and 3 have been adopted into loving homes. We still have 9 care-for-lifers, leaving our current responsibility of caring for 15 Dals & dogs... ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS!

Your help is very much needed, especially getting these dogs noticed at events or shared on social media.

Our Dals & dogs, in various stages of readiness, seeking their forever homes are:

  Pepper
Doc

We list all our adoptable dogs on www.Petfinder.com. PLEASE let us know if you can help these dogs with a loving home or getting them to events so that they might get adopted!
Special Events this February
Join us at the Straz for 101 Dalmatians & Gulfport Get Rescued

We have been invited to participate in several events, which can bring us more exposure and hopefully interest in fostering. We are still awaiting details on the 101 Dalmatian kids event, but would love to see you at the show!
We are also doing the annual Gulfport Get Rescued event. We could use volunteers for the street event and any foster dogs if available. Also, a helper for the nighttime auctions would be pawsome as this event bring funds for our care-for-lifers. If you'd like to attend please email Alison at aboh2000@aol.com. She once again secured 10 tickets so we could participate and may have a few extra. The more the merrier at this party!
