My Best Friend
by
Abby Jenkins

Black and White
Thick and furry
Fast as the wind
Always in a hurry
Couple of spots
Rub my ears
Always comes his name he hears
Loves his ball it's his favorite thing
What's most fun for him? Everything!
Great big tongue that licks my face
Has a crate his very own space
Big brown eyes like moon pies
He's my friend till the very end!

So once again we are approaching the time of our annual fundraiser now called The Fall FestiDal, the new location necessitated a later date. We are doing our best to bring all the fun & entertainment of past years as we work to fund our rescue efforts. We'd also like to bring to your attention another fundraising item called the For The Love Of Rescues calendar which can now be pre-ordered on their website if you use this link http://www.fortheloveofrescues.com/DonationOrders.html. We need all the help we can get, either by volunteering, helping us find auction items, and/or purchasing via giveback programs... it takes a whole community to save a dog!

HELP! PATCH NEEDS A FOSTER
He's come so far living in a home.

Cute little Patch is one of the three dogs we recently pulled from the horridly overcrowded Polk County Animal Control. He had to spend two weeks in a kennel before Sherry M. could thankfully foster him. Now Patch is going to have to head back to life in a kennel due to Sherry's work taking out-of-town.

Patch is only 5 months old and we SO DON'T WANT HIM TO GO SIT IN A KENNEL AGAIN. He has learned so much being in a home. He is being crate-trained and doing really well. He loves playing with other dogs and his humans. He would do best in a home with another dog and someone with a fenced in yard so he could have a place to run off his puppy energy. Patch would make a great family dog.

Won't you please find it in your heart to FOSTER Patch? You might even fall in love and become a foster flunkie. Please email Susan at daldoglady@netzero.net or text her at 727-417-6017 if you can help little Patch.

Thank you for caring.
Finally Some Good News

Six dogs find their new homes!

YIPPEE SKIPPY! BLEU, TIA, OPIE, LILLY, ABBEY , & JayJay all found their forever homes. Cute guy OPIE was such a charmer he made his foster mom Liz his "foevah" as did sweet ABBEY with Dave & Maureen and JayJay with! Of the 2 intakes we had this month, TIA from Qatar & LOLA, we only have one left looking for her forever home. However, that still leaves us with a lot of other dogs, but the future is looking a bit brighter for the rest with adoptions picking up again. We also said goodbye for now to PUTNAM the last of the 17 sanctuary dogs who moved to Orcas Island.

So for 2015, with 4 dogs carrying over from 2014, we have taken in an additional 28 dogs, 3 returnees, and 22 have been adopted into loving homes. We have 10 care-for-lifers, leaving our current responsibility of caring for 28 Dals & dogs... ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS!

Your help is very much needed, especially getting these dogs noticed at events or shared on social media.

Our Dals & dogs, in various stages of readiness, seeking their forever homes are:

GET READY FOR SOME SPOTTED FUN!!!

If you didn't join us for last year's annual DRTB picnic/fundraiser, be sure not to miss the fun this year! For those of you who did make it, please come back!  Bring your friends too.

Ferg's in St. Pete is once again hosting our spotted wonders. We've already secured some awesome Silent Auction items, St. Pete's newest Rays Fire Truck will be there from 10am to 12pm for photo opportunities and of course our annual costume contest with the winner(s) being on next years picnic flyer along with awards for the top 3. Plus we have a new game lined up that promises to be fun.  Ferg's will have a food truck available for lunch and/or drinks.  And we will have a few little spotted surprises to show off!!!!!

The spots need your support as we head into our 13th year of saving their lives.  We hope to see each and every one of you there along with your precious spotted (or non-spotted) friends!
