Do Dogs Go to Heaven?

Responding to a dying old woman's inquiry
James Herriot, the late British author/veterinarian noted:

"If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty
and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of
humans. You've nothing to worry about there."
He goes to note regarding animals
joining their masters in the afterlife:
"I do believe it. With all my heart I believe it."

Okay... life in Dal-land has gotten a bit crazy & we feel like the whole cast of 101 Dalmatians has landed in our lap. No sooner did we agree to help the 'Polk County Three', then the rest of the 'Manatee Dals on the Loose Gang' were captured... one is about to drop a surprise on us, on top of both being heartworm positive. There will be more on them later, but WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP! FOSTERS & DONATIONS sit a top our list. Please find it in your heart to help us out!

"None are as fiercely loyal as dog people. In return, no doubt, for the never-ending loyalty of dogs." - Linda Shrieves
SAVED - BUT NOT REALLY
The Polk County Three still need your help!

Won't someone PLEASE love us? We are all really good dogs and are very sad sitting in a kennel cage day after day after day. We know that Dal Rescue of Tampa (thanks Karen and Joanne) tried to do a good thing in saving us from being euthanized, but now we sit in a hot kennel, there are a lot of barking dogs all day long and it's really very stressful for us. We are all vetted and ready to go to good foster or permanent homes.

A nice volunteer named Mary Ellen came to take photos of us and here is what she had to say about each of us:

"KATIE is real sweet, calm. Her coat is really rough, she has a lot of warts -poor thing." KATIE suffered a lot of neglect from her previous owners and does have heartworms. We cannot treat her while she is in a stressful environment. She is 9-years-old and really needs a quiet loving place. She is fine with all dogs.

"The 4-year-old LILLY fits her name. She is real pretty, looks very hound like. She is real sweet & scared to death. I think she is in most need of foster of the 3. She is really stressed." LILLY is very timid...probably wondering what the heck happened to her family. She also needs a loving place to be. She is good with other dogs and older children would be fine.

"Puppy PATCHES is crazy energy, big love bug, very funny, a real character." PATCHES is a 5-month-old Dal/Pointer mix who would love to be part of a family. He would be great with other dogs and children.

Even though we saved these three, we can't let them sit in the kennel forever. It's just not a fair life to them. SO WON'T YOU PLEASE HELP THEM? MAYBE STOP BY TO TAKE THEM OUT FOR A WALK? PLEASE STEP UP TO FOSTER OR ADOPT AND SHARE THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN HELPING THESE THREE VERY DESERVING DOGS!!!

We all Thank YOU.

Six dogs in and more on the way!

Another month with no adoptions and more seeking the refuge of rescue. We want to help them all, but we need your help. This month we added ABBEY from Lady Lake. Then came the Polk County Three with LILLY, PATCHES, and KATIE (she is HW+). All who are being boarded and need fosters ASAP! Last month, when we pulled Chelsie, we had been told there were other Dals running stray... wouldn't you know when things are tightest they'd be captured! They are male & female, both are heartworm positive. The male is being called YAHTZEE and the female is now called KODA, she has a little surprise(s) for us coming soon. We also had several of our older dogs cross the rainbow bridge, JUSTICE left us in July and PINTO crossed this past week, our thanks to Rick & Tony each for giving them loving homes.

So for 2015, with 4 dogs carrying over from 2014, we have taken in an additional 26 dogs, 3 returnees, and 16 have been adopted into loving homes. We have 12 care-for-lifers, leaving our current responsibility of caring for 27 Dals & dogs... ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS!

Your help is very much needed, especially getting these dogs noticed at events or shared on social media.

Our Dals & dogs, in various stages of readiness, seeking their forever homes are:
