If Dogs Could Talk
 by
Candi Lynn

If dogs could talk what would they say?
Maybe, hey you come let's play
Go grab the ball and the frisbee
Lets play a game just you and me.

Maybe they'd say don't leave me out here
I want to be with you, close and near
I don't want to be tied to this chain
Will you bring me inside out of the rain?

What would a dog say on being a stray
Maybe hey you I've lost my way
I'm hungry and thirsty and lonely too
Hey maybe I can come home with you?

The dog in a shelter must have alot to say
What did I do to end up this way
Can you take me home and give me a name
I once had a family, this just isn't the same

I don't want to fight, a dog once said
All I want is a nice soft bed
It hurts to fight and be ripped apart
Why don't we make a brand new start

A major discussion goes on everyday
Why oh why are we stuck in this cage
Will you leave us go and let us be free
This isn't right, why can't you see

So if dogs could talk what would they say
They'd say I love you and with me you could play
We'll go for walks and relax in the sun
Now wouldn't all that be such fun

But they can't talk, but look in their eyes
Those eyes say more than one can surmise
They're devoted and loyal and oh so true
All they want is to be with you.

We hope you are having a wonderful summer. We are still here doing our best to help whatever Dal or dog comes our way. Foster homes are at a premium and we desperately need more. So please take a look at our newest rescue and read our update of our previous pleas to see if there is one you can help. Rescue only works with the help of supporters & volunteers... the dogs still need you!

FOSTER NEEDED!
Incoming Dally-girl needs a home

We just got a call to come pick-up this beautiful Dal-gal who is in one of our area shelters. She is young, sweet, playful, and needs a place to go. Whoever had her before failed to provide heartworm prevention so we will be looking at treatment options for her. Please email Susan at daldoglady@netzero.net if you can help. Our fosters are few so your help is vital!
Updates On Our Recent Pleas for Help
Some still need help, others have a happy tale!

From time to time we need to send out pleas in order to save the lives of at-risk dogs. Seniors and medically handicapped are our hardest cases. For each of the dogs below, we sent out a plea and you responded generously. We'd like to update you so you know your donations are being put to good use.

CRAYOLA - Dal-Mix with Luxated Patella Needing Surgery
NEW FOSTER HOME NEEDED ASAP. Seven month old Crayola is having surgery on August 5th. She also has hip displaysia and will need joint meds for life. Sweet as can be. 10-12 week recovery and then she will go up for adoption.

TONY - Emaciated Dal Boy Found On Tampa Streets
NEW FOSTER OR PERMANENT HOME NEEDED BY AUGUST 20TH. Tony is in his last stages of heartworm treatment and has also had his deep ear infections treated. He has put on weight and looks really handsome now! He is being placed for adoption on Petfinder. Know anyone looking for a wonderful spotted boy?

WINNIE - Dal Left Behind In Yard When Owners Moved On
Winnie is doing super. She will go this Fri and Sat for part 2 of heartworm treatment and should be ready for adoption 4 weeks after that - say Sept 1. She is older but she is really cute and she is a perfect house-dog and should make someone a really nice pet.

PIPER - Deaf Dal Mix With Eye Deformity Found As Stray
After a thorough vet check, Piper has been adopted into a wonderful home and is having the time of her life.

These wonderful dogs couldn't have been saved without your helpful donations. They are just a handful of the SO many out there waiting to be saved. We thank you so much.
Doggie Doldrums

Waiting to see what the warm days bring

Our summer has been slow. Not that there aren't dogs out there to help, but our foster situation is dire and we need more volunteers to come forward to help (Like Liz R. did for Opie). We did add several dogs this month; CRAYOLA with her wonky leg needing surgery, OPIE with those panda-boy eyes, and baby PIPER a foundling with special needs and luckily found her spot quickly.

We had three adoptions this month. JUAN, now named KADIN, has gone to his awesome new home in Colorado. TEX (see article below) has flown off to his home in GA where he quickly laid claim to his spot on the bed. Lastly, cutie PIPER found her new home perfect for her special needs.

So for 2015, with 4 dogs carrying over from 2014, we have taken in an additional 20 dogs, 3 returnees, and 16 have been adopted into loving homes. We have 12 care-for-lifers, leaving our current responsibility of caring for 21 Dals & dogs... ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS!

Your help is very much needed, especially getting these dogs noticed at events or shared on social media.

Our Dals & dogs, in various stages of readiness, seeking their forever homes are:

Tex is Flying High!
PilotsNPaws swoops in for the transport

Thanks so very much to all who helped to get senior Dal boy TEX to his new home in Georgia with Jim W. (We love you Jim!!!). Those that made it happen for this boy are:
Tricia S. and family who found him wandering around in Riverview and taking him in. Caring for him until we could find a permanent home for him. Taking him to our vet so he could get what he needed to be well.
Dr. Hong for always being there when we need him and being so good to our found furbabies.
Pat H. who works hard and long coordinating transports to and from - moving spots here and there out of danger and to a forever, loving life.
Tom A. who so generously donated his flying time, plane, gas to get this sweet old soul to safety.
You - all of our generous supporters who help us continue to make these wonderful things happen!
