I've heard it said
That to love a dog
Surely is not very smart.
For all to soon
They pass away
And take a piece of your heart.

I know that some
Will take the advice
And never know what they miss.
But I have walked
A different path
And my dogs have left me with this:

In the end
The love they take
Can never equal
The LOVE they make

WE NEED FOSTER HOMES!!!!! So far this year we have only been able to save 4 dogs. It is not because there is a lack of dogs waiting to be saved. It has become a dire situation. No foster homes, no more dogs saved. PLEASE consider our plea one last time to take a temporary dog in while we look for a new home. You will get paid back more than you can imagine with love and kisses from your foster furry. Without continued foster homes, DRTB will have to look for a new direction to help continue saving dogs in high-kill shelters. TO those of you who have fostered in the past or who continue to foster over and over again, we THANK YOU. Those that have gone on to wonderful new lives THANK YOU. If you have any questions about what fostering involves, please feel free to call me at 727-417-6017 or email me at daldoglady@netzero.net or Sherry at 727-543-5577 or email at daldogrescue@yahoo.com.

Thank you again,
Susan

Frozen February

Still need fosters for us to help dogs

While most of February was a literally frozen for much of the USA, DRTB seems to have hit a freeze of its own due the lack of foster space. We simply have no place to put intakes. One dog that was able to join us is TUBBY who finally arrived from the Village of the Forgotten & Lost in GA. Sadly; there are about 60 more dogs in desperate need of help back there. Returning to rescue in February are HONEY and ANNIE. We still have an agreement to help find homes for some Qatar Dalmatians, JAKE & JACOB, who are due to arrive in April. Lucky Dal-gal, GRACIE, was adopted this month to a family who will keep her car climbing ways in check. Lastly, we said goodbye for now to PRINCESS, the senior Dal from Jacksonville who was dumped because she whimpered in pain from arthritis pain. She had nearly another year with us and a lifetime of love.

So for 2015, with 4 dogs carrying over from 2014, we have taken in an additional 4 dogs, 2 returnees, and 3 have been adopted into loving homes. We have 14 care-for-lifers, leaving our current responsibility of caring for 20 Dals & dogs... ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS!

Your help is very much needed, especially getting these dogs noticed at events or shared on social media.

Our Dals & dogs, in various stages of readiness, seeking their forever homes are:

Far From His Life on a Chain
Alfie finds his home with DRTB's Kimber

Handsome "Alf" was found wandering as a stray with a broken chain around his neck. He was not neutered and worse, had untreated entropian, a painful condition, in both eyes. Thanks so much to Gregg P. for fostering this beauty and Pat H. for transporting him. Also, Dr. Hong for doing his eye surgery at a very discounted price. Alf is another example of how your donations help Dals in need get the help they so desperately need to live a life free of cruelty.

Comments from new owners Jordan and Nick:
"Alfie has been a great addition to our family. Kimber and Alfie are best buds. They enjoy taking naps together, playing outside, going on walks, and going to daycare. Alfie has been through a lot in the past few weeks but he has been a trooper through it all. He loves laying in our laps and getting lots of cuddles. He melts like putty in our hands and is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever been around. Alfie wins the heart of everyone he meets. Our neighbors love getting their Alfie love and he has charmed all of the staff at doggy daycare. Alfie is most certainly a charmer and he has made himself right at home with us. We are so thankful to have this sweet boy as a part of our family!
