I see your pain, I see your tears, from the hard life you have had thru the years, just know in time your pain will drift, into a wonderful full life of bliss, you see I don't have much, but I can give you love and a life without a hutch, as I take your paw and look you in the eyes, we smile at each other as we look into the skies, as comfort and serenity comes over us, just know we will be together until our time to part, and always and forever will be in each others hearts, your my dog, your my kid, your my soul and forever until the end.

What a month it has been! We've been juggling all the new dogs along with the flood of dogs July sent. All the while we are looking toward funding our endeavors with Strut Your Mutt and now Dal-loween. PHEW! Please note, the autumn event season is about to pick-up so your volunteer help at events and to bring fostered dogs is much needed... you never know when that perfect home may appear.
"A good dog never dies, he always stays, he walks besides you on crisp autumn days when frost is on the fields and winter's drawing near, his head within our hand in his old way." - Unknown

TOBY "TWO" Finds Forever LOVE!!
He found his happily ever after!
This year's TOBY "ONE" who came to us from Suwannee County didn't get the happy ending we wished - he succumbed to renal failure not very long after we rescued him. So when another, TOBY "TWO", appeared in Miami-Dade's shelter we had to help him and we think his story now has a fairytale ending.
TOBY's owner
 | Toby2 and Donner chillaxin' |
had passed away leaving him with not such good friends who decided to turned him into the high kill shelter. Thanks to Linda McL. for pulling him and the ever ready South Florida transport team for bringing the grieving boy up to Tampa. Both Frank N. and Rick D. get hugs for fostering him while we had him fully vetted and searched for a home.
Along came long-time DRTB supporter and adopter Cathy H. who was looking for another Dal to keep her dogs company. She knew it was meant to be when she pulled up to Rick's and TOBY ran right out to her and gave her a big smooch. Cathy writes:
"He's settling in, but his deafness is going to be a challenge. I'm hoping Donner and he will get close enough for Donner to be his ears. This is them in my tv room. He has his own large ottoman in my bedroom right next to the bathroom door. He slept thru the nite, and was comfortable with me getting up occasionally to go to the bathroom. He really is a sweet boy, and Donner is acting like a young stud around him. Ill keep you posted.
Thanx again. Cathy"
Ongoing emails tell us TOBY is no longer grieving his lost Mom and loving his new one!!!

After the "FLOOD" Our Work Continues!
We are trying to get them all placed!
August had us on the run still dealing with the previous month's onslaught of dogs. We took in seven more at-risk dogs. Joining us in rescue are FRANCIS, BRI, TOBY2, LOLA, DOTTIE, PIPPA, & the soon to arrive TRAVIS. The purebreds were the quickest to place and luckily we had 2 of the incoming mixes find their new homes rapidly. Our completed adoptions this month are LULU, TOBY2, & DOTTIE. Sadly, last month's rescue KYLE crossed the Rainbow Bridge, his illness was far worse than we knew and we thank Scott W. for giving him a lifetime of love in such a short while. Additionally, we still need a foster home for TRAVIS who is being held in Marietta GA with a shelter foster.
So for 2014, with 14 dogs carrying over from 2013, we have 31 dogs adopted into loving homes. We increase our care-for-lifers to 16 dogs. This leaves our current responsibility caring for 30 Dals & dogs... ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS!
Your help is very much needed, especially getting these dogs noticed at events or shared on social media.
Our Dals & dogs, in various stages of readiness, seeking their forever homes are:
