Another year has come and gone... seems we've lost so many of our older furry friends this year, as well as one very special human. As seniors they had reached the point where they could no longer fight off the ravages of time, even with help. Each has left their mark on our hearts and their spirits will guide us to helping even more.  So we will keep on fighting the good fight in their memory... our auld acquaintance won't be forgot on days of auld lang syne.

Christmas Came For A Dog Called Carl
He was saved in the 'Nick" of time!

NICK isn't ready for the holiday festivities to be over, he wants to know where his Christmas tree went!
Poor ol' Carl. Lumpy and bumpy, battered and bruised, this old spotted boy still isn't near ready to crossover to the other side. NICK, as he is now being called, ended up on a throw-away pile at Miami-Dade Animal Control. Never ones to say NO to the old spots, DRTB's Linda and Dick pulled this sweet, deaf boy out of the shelter the day before Christmas. Even if he had been ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge, we couldn't let him die alone on Christmas Day. So instead it was a Merry Christmas to us & to Nick!

However, NICK needs your help in order to fix him up and make his life comfortable enough for him to navigate through his senior years. He is going to need blood-work, neutering (to prevent further tumor growths), removal of several problematic tumors, and possible surgery on his back leg that is causing him great pain. His hip is completely out of socket & thought to be from an old injury that was left untreated. Won't you please consider making a New Year's donation to help this poor boy out?  Please remember that we can't continue to help these old souls without your support.  Thank you so much!

A Very Special Guardian Angel
Joyce Dennehy has crossed the Rainbow Bridge

Five years ago, DRTB had the good fortune of being put in touch with a wonderful woman & philanthropist named Joyce Dennehy through a mutual friend. Since 2009 Joyce has been helping us save SO many spotted lives by virtue of her very generous donations. When we had a dog who needed more than we could easily provide, it was often Joyce to our rescue. Just a week before Christmas we learned that Joyce's health had critically deteriorated and she had passed on. Though we never met in person, we had many conversations and she felt so much like a warm and loving friend. Joyce made the world a much kinder place and touched lives and hearts everywhere. We will miss her greatly, but know she is surrounded by love up above for all her good doings on earth. GoDspeed Joyce!

A New Year With New Beginnings

Some are in new homes while others still wait

It was a very Merry Christmas for some DRTB Dogs. We had 7 adoptions in December! CHICO, SPANNER, TRIPP, LIBBY, THELMA, TEDDY, & ABAGAYLE got their wish for new homes to call their own. Unfortunately, BOBBY has been returned to try again. Since Chico was adopted we expect things to be a bit easier in the foster household. Thank-you to Dawn of Husky Haven for taking him on as a last minute passenger back to his foster in the Miami area. Of course, we had more intakes. The new "kids" are LIBBY, TEDDY, LADY, CARL, & little CAMERONWe look forward to finding them new homes in 2014.

We began 2013 with 9 dogs carrying over from 2012. So far we have brought in 88 more dogs of which several are returnees. Our adoption count for 2013 is 68 dogs into loving homes. Responsibility for caring for 29 Dals & dogs remains constant. ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS! Your help is very much needed, especially getting these dogs noticed at events or shared on social media.

Our Next Big Event & Fundraiser

Come to Gulfport to support us day & night!

Exposure, exposure, exposure.... it's key to getting dogs adopted and the funds to care for them until they do! So we will be participating in the GULFPORT'S GET RESCUED day time adoption street event and later that evening at the fundraising auction event. Volunteers are needed to work the tent during the day event and to bring fosters to get seen. Alison B. has guaranteed us two tables we can fill with auction items for Tails at Twilight. We could use help rounding up donations of auctionable goods... anything goes. Plus we need a volunteer to help with check out that evening. Email daldogevents@msn.com for more info! Tell all your friends and buy tickets... it will be a great time for all!
