Another Spooktacular Dal-loween
Each year we get bigger & better

THANK YOU to all who came out and made our 10-year rescue anniversary an extra special day. We had our biggest attendance ever... almost 200 of you! Close to $6,000 was raised and two spots found their forever homes. We now have a new poster boy, Milton, for next years picnic flyer. Also, we made it onto the first page of the Local Section of the Tampa Bay Times and look for us in next issue of The New Barker. Our spots are thrilled! A date has been set for our next picnic, which will be October 11th, 2014.
Milton took first place in our costume contest for coming as a fire truck. Second place went to Webster & Pandora as the Mad Hatter & Alice in Wonderland. Following in third place was Samson & Delilah dressed as a buccaneer pair. All contestants were as cute as could be and we're sure that made it really hard to choose. Our game players all worked very hard at winning their medals. Blue won the popcorn toss and Webster the pumpkin dash. While we'd desperately like to tell you who won the bone bob... we don't know, in the chaos that is Dal-loween our tally sheets got trashed (please tell us).
We sure missed our fire trucks - they both had mechanical breakdowns - but we hope they will be back with us next year. Thanks again to everyone for making it such a special day!

Paw-some Dogs Still Wait for the ONE
Make their dreams come true
ADOPTIONS ARE SLOWLY PICKING UP! While we still have many wonderful dogs needing homes, we have managed 3 adoptions for October with one pending. RANGER & COCOA joined their new homes at Dal-loween. SPANNER has been adopted too and CLARISSA is trying out a new home. Of course, intakes have a way of keeping us filled to the brim, BUGSY, SPOT (or as we prefer Mr. NUBBS), & TROY were impossible to ignore so all three have joined us. TROY will need a foster or adopter, any one want to take on this beautiful Dal-boy?
We began 2013 with 9 dogs carrying over from 2012. So far we have brought in 78 more dogs of which 3 are returnees. Our adoption count for 2013 is 58 dogs into loving homes. Responsibility for caring for 30+ Dals & dogs remains the same. ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS! Your help is very much needed, especially getting these dogs noticed at events or shared on social media.

Look at Me Now!
Mr. Nubbs has his soft spot (so does Sandy)
If you were at the picnic, you saw sad, graphic photos of a poor Dal who we were going to pull from Hillsborough Animal Services. However, we had no foster home for him. "Nubbs" was in awful shape. His ears were badly infected, there was no hair (only sores) on his back end, and he had NO tail... not even a stub! He walked as if he were in pain, but the whole time we were with him, he just wanted to put his head in your lap. He certainly didn't want to go back into his "cell" and desperately wanted out of there. Thanks to Super Foster Mom Sandy B., Mr. Nubbs now has a place to reside. Our vet thinks he was born without a tail and with some deformities in his hips. After just one week with Sandy, he is already looking better and definitely happier. Mr. Nubbs will probably be a DRTB care-for-life dog but that's fine with Sandy. She's lovin' every minute with him!
