My Second Chance

by

Lilly Gardner

The landscapes were alive with spotted dogs

It was a nod to good old Walt

But so many didn't know how to care for us,

It really was never our fault!

With expressive eyes and Oh, those dots

Our breed was all the rage!

Everyone wanted a Dalmatian to call their own

At least during the puppy stage...

The novelty soon began to wear off

And the shelters began to fill

We couldn't understand what was happening to us

As we battled our own Cruella DeVil!

Dalmatian Rescues opened around the country

And our angels worked tirelessly

I'm just ONE of the many happy endings

In my new home, with my new family!

~Thank you Dalmatian Rescue of Tampa Bay~

With much love from Pearl Susan Gardner

Hello Dal Lover!

Hope y'all are having a wonder-Dal Labor Day break. Summer is "over", though not so much here in Florida, and we head into Fall and our event season. We have A LOT of dogs needing homes so any help such as fostering, getting dogs to events, and even circulating pets via social media would be gratefully appreciated. Can't wait to see y'all at Dal-loween!

PS. Scroll down to see the new 10th year tees and read the pawsome poem on the sidebar that Lilly & Pearl wrote for us :)

"The dog's agenda is simple, fathomable, overt: I want. "I want to go out, come in, eat something, lie here, play with that, kiss you." There are no ulterior motives with a dog, no mind games, no second-guessing, no complicated negotiations or bargains, and no guilt trips or grudges if a request is denied." - Caroline Knapp

Dog Days Doldrums

Adoptions are almost at a standstill

Dogs, dogs, everywhere with few adopters to be found! Summer can be the pits for re-homing dogs. Could everyone be away?? Our hopes are that adoptions will pick-up after the Labor Day holiday. We've added another 7 dogs this August. Joining us are TUXEDO, HAPPY, PATTI, FRECKLES (another 2008 returnee), TRIPP, PONGO and RANGER. We also learned that DARCY has mast cell cancer so she will become a care-for life and remain with Jim & Jen N. until her time comes. Finishing up our count are our 3 adoptions and they are: TINKERBELLE, DAX, & SWEETIE. Happy life kids!!!

We began 2013 with 9 dogs carrying over from 2012. So far we have brought in 72 more dogs of which 3 are returnees. Our adoption count for 2013 is 54 dogs into loving homes. Responsibility for caring for 30+ Dals & dogs remains the same. ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS! Your help is very much needed.

Dax Finds Love At Last
Finally Dax is living the rescued dog's dream

Dax New Home
No longer emaciated, DAX has a home we all wished for him!
Remember our pathetically skinny stray spot that we sent out a plea for two months ago? Dax was found wandering in rural Tampa so covered in fleas and filled with worms that he was very anemic. The poor boy who should have weighed about 50 pounds, was only 25 pounds. After being well taken care of by Foster Mom Nicole, Dax has now found his way into a forever home with new Mom Lindsey. Lindsey adores Dax - he even sleeps with her every night. She has found out he loves lizards and needs a little leash training when he spots one. Dax is finally getting the attention and love he deserves. Thank you to everyone who contributed to help make his happy ending come true!
