Barb and Sophie with Cesar
|
Cesar Millan, the famed Dog Whisperer, was recently in Tampa for a 2 hour show. He was looking to showcase a couple of "problem" dogs to demonstrate his correction methods. DRTB was one of only 3 rescues called to audition for the show! Unfortunately, all of our dogs for adoption were so well behaved that none of them got picked for the show. However, our volunteers and dogs got a photo opportunity with Cesar and free tickets to the show. Thanks to our fosters Barb, Jackie, Sandy, Sherry, Frank, and Wendie for bringing their spots - SOPHIE, THELMA, BLUE, FANCY, CLARISSA, and PEPPER for try-outs.

Hot Digiddy Dogs!
Finally a month with less fewer intakes than adoptions
All months can be busy, but this was one that was busiest sending dogs on to their forever homes... yippee! Our arrivals for June are ASPEN and SPLASH. A lucky seven dogs were adopted in June, they are: ROSEY, CHUCK, BLUE, DOTTIE , GEMMA, CINDER & STAR
Way to go kids!!!
We began 2013 with 9 dogs carrying over from 2012. So far we have brought in 52 new dogs plus 1 return. Another old spot left us this month, ENKI, so we have had 8 dogs cross the Rainbow Bridge under our care due to old age issues or illness. Another will be crossing soon. Our adoption count for 2013 is 45 dogs into loving homes. We still have the responsibility of caring for 25 Dals & dogs. ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS! Your help is very much needed.
Our Dals & dogs, in various stages of readiness, seeking their forever homes are:

Sweet Home Florida for Dottie
Winging her way into our hearts
DOTTIE was found as a stray in Pell County, Alabama. This very pretty little Dalmatian was obviously used for breeding, but got very little other care. DOTTIE also tested positive for heartworms so the only way she would make it out of the shelter alive was if a rescue took her. Many thanks to Pat H. for getting DOTTIE a ride with Susan D. of Pilot and Paws to Tampa. DOTTIE was to be fostered by Lucy M., but that didn't last very long. Sheryl and Ken W. had been looking for a young, small, female Dalmatian since theirs had crossed the Rainbow Bridge. They came to meet DOTTIE and despite all of her problems, they couldn't help but fall in love. So DOTTIE became CHLOE.
Her health news, however, got worse. DOTTIE/CHLOE had a growth on her leg that turned out to be cancerous. Sheryl and Ken didn't hesitate to get her the best care available. Good news is that the tumor was completely removed. Next CHLOE will have to undergo heartworm treatment and then be spayed. Sheryl and Ken are totally committed to seeing her through it all and absolutely adore their new spotted girl. It is definitely Home Sweet Home Florida for CHLOE!
