Dog-isms:

Side Dal
A Dog's Christmas Carol
(sung to the tune of Winter Wonderland)

Dog tags ring, are you listening'?
In the lane, snow is glistenin'.
It's yellow, NOT white I've been there tonight,
Marking up my winter wonderland.

Smell that tree? That's my fragrance.
It's a sign for wandering vagrants;
Avoid where I pee, it's MY pro-per-ty!
Marked up as my winter wonderland.

In the meadow dad will build a snowman,
following the classical design.
Then I'll lift my leg and let it go Man,
So all the world will know that it's
mine-mine-mine!

Straight from me to the fence post,
flows my natural incense boast;
Stay off my TURF, this small piece of earth,
I marked it as my winter wonderland."

Hello Dal Lover!

Happy Holidays to Everyone,

Abbie THANK YOU for all you have done this year to help DRTB continue our efforts of rescue. The season is now in full swing, but for the animals in shelters it's never a joyous time.

We try to make it brighter for homeless dogs like Abbie, a very neglected, & over-bred older Dalmatian-mix we recently saved from a kill shelter in the Florida panhandle. Despite a lot of medical care, we just found out that Abbie has mammary cancer that has already spread throughout her body. Foster mom Barb is determined to make her last Christmas the best one of her life. It is because of your continued donations that Abbie will have this one last holiday filled with love.

So as you are out doing your Christmas shopping, please don't forgot about the abandoned animals sitting in shelters desperately waiting for our help. Consider shopping our DRTB auctions that will resume this month for some wonderful holiday gifts. Or perhaps you'd like to buy Abbie some extra special Christmas treats. Whatever you chose to do, please know we are forever grateful.

Help Them Home For The Holidays

Let's make their days merry & bright

Boots & Geurita in TX Guerita and Boots, a striking Dal-mix pair, came to us all the way from a Texas shelter. They lost their home because their owner passed away. The surviving spouse was know to be an abuser so the dogs were gotten out of the situation as quickly as possible. However, not before they had been left out long enough to become totally tick infested as you can see in the picture of Guerita's ear. Both dogs were so covered in ticks, it took shelter volunteers hours to pick them all off.

Geurita's tick infested earNow both dogs have been successfully vetted and are just waiting for a new life with a lot more love than their previous one had. Guerita and Boots are sister and brother, about 1.5 years old, full of energy and very bonded. It is so sweet to watch them interact together. Our biggest Christmas wish would be for them to stay together if at all possible. We realize that is a huge wish so next best thing would be a wonderful home for each separately.

If you can grant their wish please email us at daldoglady@netzero.net or call 727-787-1760.
Make Their Wishes Come True

We have several dogs needing forever homes

Ever mindful of our spots, we are hoping to create our own version of a Christmas miracle for our "Tiny Tims" and "Virginias".  We had four November intakes and they are: Boots, Geurita, Dillon, & Spike. To balance that out, our lucky November adoptees were Gidget, Belle, Mason, & Peaches who went to new homes. Jimbo & Dillion also have good prospects we are waiting to finalize. Of course, we'd like to do this for even more of our dogs.

In 2012, with 16 dogs carrying over from 2011 & 2 dogs returned, we added 74 more dogs into rescue. Of that 3 crossed the rainbow bridge. Out total adoptions to date stands at 59 dogs to new homes. We still have the responsibility of caring for 29 Dals & dogs. ANY or ALL could use SPONSORS! Your help is very much needed. Our Dals & dogs, in various stages of readiness, seeking their forever homes are:

Get ready to Jam for the Animals!

8 bands, weeeedogggie! An eclectic blend of music...

Mark your calendars NOW for some foot stompin' fun to help our spots. The kind-hearted people from the ACOUSTIC ANIMAL JAM are choosing to benefit DRTB from half of the sales of a 50/50 Raffle the day of their event. They will also be asking event attendees to bring donated food for our fostered dogs.

This is a 3 day event, however DRTB is invited for SATURDAY, JANUARY 19th, 2013 at 5230 Berry Patch Road, Dover, FL. Bands that day begin at 10am and run till 10 p with drawing possibly at 7p (the longer we stay, the more we could raise)... we'd like to cover as much time as possible.

We also need two to four volunteers to staff the event (Note: We will also need volunteers for our Rally in Pinellas Park the same Day). Volunteers are responsible for selling the 50/50 tickets to attendees so we need some good talkers!

It should be a fun day for all and a good day for the animals.
