Dear ,

Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by. - Mossie Lister

Thunderstorms can be very powerful bringing strong winds, dangerous lightning, torrential downpours, hail stones, and even tornados. Being caught in a thunderstorm can be a very frightening experience, especially when no shelter is available.

Thunderstorms are symbolic of the other "storms of life" that we all experience. Storms of financial burden, storms of broken relationships, storms of disappointment, storms of illness and storms of grief to name just a few. At times the storms of life can be so fierce that we wonder if there will ever be a break, if we'll ever get through the darkness of the tempest. We wonder how God could allow the chaos, or even if God cares while we do our best to endure.

As Christians we need to remember that God does care, and in the midst of any conflict He is there.   He promises us that no matter what we are going through, He will be there to love and protect us. There is nothing that can remove us from His care and compassion. Here are 10 scripture references (among many others) that tell of God's unfailing protection.   Look them up and be encouraged that He will keep you safe till the storm passes by.

1.            Deuteronomy 31:6
2.            Deuteronomy 31:8
3.            Joshua 1:5
4.            1Kings 8:57
5.            1Chronicles 28:20
6.            Psalms 37:28
7.            Psalms 94:14
8.            Isaiah 41:17
9.            Isaiah 42:16
10.          Hebrews 13:5

Blessings,

If your foundation is faulty, you will not stand.

We live in a "feel-good" culture. We do things that violate our conscience because we feel like it. We buy things we can't afford because we feel like it. We leave our families for shortsighted flings because we've lost that "loving feeling." No wonder the mentality has found its way into churches. This way of thinking causes us to question our faith when problems arise or good things don't happen as we expect. These difficulties make us wonder: "Does God not love me? Wasn't every problem supposed to go away once I repeated the sinner's prayer with a pastor?"

"Resilient "explores all the watered-down ways of presenting the gospel over the past 50 years that can result in a shaky foundation. With examples from Jesus, along with the historic men and women that once defined our faith, Luce shows you how to build your confidence in God when you don't understand, train your faith for endurance rather than just strength, and develop a solid faith foundation that will last through the good and the bad.

How to Survive a Shipwreck

How to Survive a Shipwreck
In Store and Online
Life is turbulent. On that, we can all agree. Disappointed dreams, broken relationships, identity crises, vocational hang-ups, wounds from the past there are so many ways life can send us crashing up against the rocks.

In this deeply personal book, Jonathan Martin draws from his own stories of failure and loss to find the love that can only be discovered on the bottom. How to Survive a Shipwreck is an invitation to trust the goodness of God and the resilience of your soul. Jonathan's clarion call is this: No matter how hard you've fallen, no matter how much you've been hurt, help is on the way just when you need it most.

With visionary artistry and pastoral wisdom, Jonathan Martin reveals what we'll need to make it through those uncharted waters, how we can use these defining experiences to live out of our depths, and why it will then become impossible to go back to the half-life we once lived.

One Plucky Female Pharmacist + One High-Society Naval Officer = Romance--and Danger

For plucky Lillian Avery, America's entry into World War II means a chance to prove herself as a pharmacist in Boston. The challenges of her new job energize her. But society boy Ensign Archer Vandenberg's attentions only annoy--even if he "is" her brother's best friend.

During the darkest days of the war, Arch's destroyer hunts German U-boats in vain as the submarines sink dozens of merchant ships along the East Coast. Still shaken by battles at sea, Arch notices his men also struggle with their nerves--and with drowsiness. Could there be a link to the large prescriptions for sedatives Lillian has filled? The two work together to answer that question, but can Arch ever earn Lillian's trust and affection?

Sarah Sundin brings World War II to life, offering readers an intense experience they won't soon forget.
