Dear ,

So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. 1 Corinthians 15:58 (NLT)

Have you ever gone to a store where the service wasn't the best?   I heard an example the other day where a customer, the only one in the store, approached the person at the counter to purchase an item and was asked by the clerk, "Do you have a number?"   The customer looked around and responded, "I'm the only one here, do I really need a number?"   The clerk insisted, it was policy that no one was served without a number and that he must take a number in order to be waited on. The customer went to the little ticket machine and took a number. The clerk then proceeded to call several numbers out with no response (there was no one else there) until reaching the customer's number. Sounds ridiculous doesn't it.

Compare the above with a visit to the Ritz Carrollton Hotel where their motto is "ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen".   When customers approach those working at the hotel with a request they are answered with "My Pleasure". Asking someone to take a number to be waited on will never happen. At the Ritz, the customer is there to be served and served very well.

So, how is it with us as we serve our brothers and sisters in Christ. When asked to pitch in on a project, or to fill a need, do we roll our eyes, sigh and say "take a number" or do we respond with a joyful "My Pleasure." How is it with us collectively as the church as we reach out to those in the community? Are we of the mindset that others are an inconvenience, or do we gladly put our self-interests behind, join together and serve with Christian love?

Dear Lord, help us today to be people who serve others with, and through, your Love and Grace. Amen

Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (NLT)

Blessings,
Steve <><

The Miracles in You
The Miracles in You
In Store and Online
God is at work every minute of the day doing miraculous things in our lives, but few have eyes to see him at work.

Using his classic story-driven style, in The miracles in You, Mark Victor Hansen helps us see life-changing, often daily miraculous events we dismiss as accidents or just plain luck. Once Hansen shows us how to recognize a true miracle when we see it, then we can see actual miracles that are occurring in our own lives - a powerful experience. Finally, the book shows you how to be a miracle in the lives of almost everyone around you. An eye- opening read!
How to Love Your Neighbor (without being weird)
How to Love Your Neighbor without being Weird

Many women are comfortable hanging out at church but also long for a spiritual connection to their community. Amy Lively shows you how to love those strangers next door even when you're fearful. She writes from her experience, saying, "I've knocked on hundreds of doors. Every time I invite my neighbors for coffee I learn something new." This book is a candid compilation of her mistakes (yes) and gives God the glory for successes.

You'll find hands-on tools and ideas that will help you share the Gospel, explore how to use social media to form real-life relationships, and give you the courage to take the first step of faith to reach out to that neighbor whose name you don't yet know.

When Jesus Wept
$5.00 In-Store Only
Our Price $5.00
Lazarus occupies a surprising position in the Gospel accounts. Widely known as the man Jesus raised from the dead, his story is actually much broader and richer than that. Living as he did at Bethany, near Jerusalem, Lazarus was uniquely placed to witness the swirl of events around Jesus.

When Jesus Wept, the first novel in The Jerusalem Chronicles series by bestselling authors Bodie and Brock Thoene, unfolds the turbulent times in Judea during Jesus' ministry, centering on the friendship between Jesus and Lazarus. With rich insights from vineyard owners and vine dressers, the Thoenes explore the metaphor of Jesus as the True Vine, harvesting the ancient secrets found in the Old Testament. Weaving the life of Lazarus, who owned a vineyard, into the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ will help you understand it is the hand of Love Divine that holds the knife, that cuts and breaks with such tender and loving touch, and that we who have born some fruit, after the pruning, can bear much more.

I am a Church Member
$5.00 In Store
Best-selling author and ministry leader Thom S. Rainer drew an exceptional response when he posted a 500-word declaration about church membership to his daily blog. "I Am a Church Member" started a conversation about the attitudes and responsibilities of church members -- rather than the functional and theological issues -- that previous new member primers all but ignored.
Thoughtfully expanded to book form, I Am a Church Member begins to remedy the outbreak of inactive or barely committed church members, addressing without apology what is expected of those who join a body of believers. When a person's attitude is consistently biblical and healthy, matters of giving, serving, and so forth will fall into place more naturally.

Six intentional chapters with study questions guide this rising discussion:
1. I Will Be a Unifying Church Member
2. I Will Not Let the Church Be About My Preferences and Desires
3. I Will Pray for My Church Leaders
4. I Will Lead My Family to Be Healthy Church Members
5. I Will Be a Functioning Member
6. I Will Treasure Church Membership as a Gift

Autopsy of a Deceased Church
$5.00 In Store
No one wants to see a church die. And yet, far too many churches are dying. For more than twenty-five years, Dr. Thom Rainer has helped churches grow, reverse the trends of decline, and has autopsied those that have died. From this experience, he has discovered twelve consistent themes among those churches that have died. Yet, it's not gloom and doom because from those twelve themes, lessons on how to keep your church alive have emerged.

Whether your church is vibrant or dying, whether you are a pastor or a church member, "Autopsy of a Deceased Church" will walk you through the radical paths necessary to keep your church alive to the glory of God and advancement of Christ's Kingdom

Some Parting Fun...
The five year old boy squealed with delight when he opened his birthday present from grandmother.

It was a water pistol. He promptly ran to the sink to fill it.

"Mom," Said the boy's father. I'm surprised at you. "Don't you remember how we used to drive you crazy with water pistols?"

Grandma smiled and said, "Yes, I remember."
