Dear ,

HE IS RISEN!

He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. Matthew 28:6 (NLT)

If not for the resurrection, Christianity would be just another religion. Many have tried to disprove the fact that Jesus rose from the dead, but the proof of the resurrection is undeniable. Here are some of the more common examples of the evidence given for Christ's resurrection.
  1. The Empty Tomb - This is important as the Roman governor tasked the militia with sealing and guarding the tomb, eliminating any possibility that Christ's body would have been "stolen" or moved. Also, the Sanhedrin would have produced the body to disprove the empty tomb if they were able to do so. Finally, the grave clothes were folded, and remained in the tomb - no one removing a body would have left the linens, especially neatly folded.
  2. Eyewitness account of the Women that first Easter morning - Jesus honored the women who had supported his ministry by giving them the first eyewitness to his resurrection. Women in Jesus' time were not allowed to testify and were considered second class; no author of the time would have used their testimony if it were not absolutely true.
  3. The Apostles' boldness after seeing Christ - Prior to their encounter with the risen Savior, all the apostles were hiding behind locked doors; in fear for their lives. After seeing Christ, their cowardliness turned to boldness as they left the locked rooms and proclaimed the Gospel. They quit hiding because they knew the Truth.
  4. Changed lives; James, the brother of Jesus - Even skeptics such as Jesus' brother James became whole hearted believers after encounters with Jesus after the resurrection. James became a courageous leader of the church; even being stoned to death for his faith.
  5. Large crowd of eyewitnesses (over 500) and many smaller groups - large groups of people agreeing, and reporting, on seeing Christ would not happen if not true. If it had been a hallucination there would not have been total agreement.
  6. Conversion of Saul - An aggressive persecutor of the church, Saul encountered Jesus on his way to harass and imprison believers. His life was changed so much so that he became an apostle himself, receiving a name change along with a change of heart and mission. As Paul, he became the apostle to the Gentiles proclaiming the Good News of the Gospel.
  7. People died rather than renounce their story. - It is said that men will hold fast to a false belief until they are faced with death.       If the beliefs they hold are false they will renounce them rather than die.   Thousands upon thousands have died for their belief that Christ rose from the grave and is the Son of God.
I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today; I know that He is living whatever men may say; I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer, And just the time I need Him, He's always near. You ask me how I know He lives?  He lives within my heart.

HE IS RISEN, INDEED!

Blessings,
Steve <><

When Jesus Wept
$5.00 In-Store Only

Lazarus occupies a surprising position in the Gospel accounts. Widely known as the man Jesus raised from the dead, his story is actually much broader and richer than that. Living as he did at Bethany, near Jerusalem, Lazarus was uniquely placed to witness the swirl of events around Jesus.

When Jesus Wept, the first novel in The Jerusalem Chronicles series by bestselling authors Bodie and Brock Thoene, unfolds the turbulent times in Judea during Jesus' ministry, centering on the friendship between Jesus and Lazarus. With rich insights from vineyard owners and vine dressers, the Thoenes explore the metaphor of Jesus as the True Vine, harvesting the ancient secrets found in the Old Testament. Weaving the life of Lazarus, who owned a vineyard, into the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ will help you understand it is the hand of Love Divine that holds the knife, that cuts and breaks with such tender and loving touch, and that we who have born some fruit, after the pruning, can bear much more.

I am a Church Member
$5.00 In Store
Best-selling author and ministry leader Thom S. Rainer drew an exceptional response when he posted a 500-word declaration about church membership to his daily blog. "I Am a Church Member" started a conversation about the attitudes and responsibilities of church members -- rather than the functional and theological issues -- that previous new member primers all but ignored.
Thoughtfully expanded to book form, I Am a Church Member begins to remedy the outbreak of inactive or barely committed church members, addressing without apology what is expected of those who join a body of believers. When a person's attitude is consistently biblical and healthy, matters of giving, serving, and so forth will fall into place more naturally.

Six intentional chapters with study questions guide this rising discussion:
1. I Will Be a Unifying Church Member
2. I Will Not Let the Church Be About My Preferences and Desires
3. I Will Pray for My Church Leaders
4. I Will Lead My Family to Be Healthy Church Members
5. I Will Be a Functioning Member
6. I Will Treasure Church Membership as a Gift

Autopsy of a Deceased Church
$5.00 In Store
No one wants to see a church die. And yet, far too many churches are dying. For more than twenty-five years, Dr. Thom Rainer has helped churches grow, reverse the trends of decline, and has autopsied those that have died. From this experience, he has discovered twelve consistent themes among those churches that have died. Yet, it's not gloom and doom because from those twelve themes, lessons on how to keep your church alive have emerged.

Whether your church is vibrant or dying, whether you are a pastor or a church member, "Autopsy of a Deceased Church" will walk you through the radical paths necessary to keep your church alive to the glory of God and advancement of Christ's Kingdom

Some Parting Fun...
It was the week after the resurrection, and disciples were still scattered about Jerusalem and the surrounding villages. John searched high and low for Peter and finally found him still hanging out in the upper room.

"Peter, Peter!" he said excitedly. "I have good news and  bad news. Which would you rather hear first?"

"By all means give me the good news. We've had enough bad news lately," Peter said.

"The good news is Christ is risen," John said.

"That's great!" said Peter. "Now what's the bad news?"

John, looked around anxiously and said, "Well, He's really steamed about last Friday."
