Dear ,
Have you ever had someone give you advice to be careful what you pray for? I've heard the question followed up with the warning that "You just might get it!" Or how often have you been given the warning to never pray for patience because when you do, God will be sure to send you things that would try the patience of any saint.
When it comes right down to it don't you think that when we pray, God knows exactly the most pressing needs of our heart? And, if we pray with a humble heart seeking to be in tune with His will for our lives and those around us, our prayers can bring about great things in the Kingdom.
The truth is that we pray in ignorance more often than not. The Scripture says that we don't even know what we should ask, but the Spirit groans for us, interpreting not only our desires but God's. At times, I've often felt a pressing burden to pray for something or someone that at the time didn't make any sense at all. It's only later that I can see that God had a plan to help me grow, or provide a need, in some way by lifting a particular request in prayer.
Instead of "be careful what you pray for," here are some better things to be careful about concerning prayer:

Be careful to pray. Not praying will get us into far more danger than praying courageously ever will.

Be careful to listen. As you pray, open your spiritual sense to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and allow Him to lead you, conforming your desires to His.

Be careful to pray in faith. Sometimes we are given great faith in a certain outcome, but perhaps more often, we are praying more with faith in Who than what. Ask the Lord to give you faith in proportion to the answer He wants to bring.

Be careful to obey. Sometimes praying the prayer itself is an act of obedience; sometimes the obedience comes in response to the prompting of the Lord as He answers. Whatever the source, there can be a bit of fear attached. "He who seeks to save his life will lose it, but he who loses his life for my sake will find it." Be courageous and obedient to His will.
Don't worry about what not to pray for; just pray!, pray often, pray with courage and conviction, pray in faith and watch God do wonderful things.

When the day came, her mother felt she had been too harsh and changed her mind. When she told the little girl she could go to the picnic, the child's reaction was one of gloom and unhappiness.
