Dear ,

"My son, never forget the things I've taught you. If you want a long and satisfying life, closely follow my instructions. Never tire of loyalty and kindness. Hold these virtues tightly. Write them deep within your heart."  Proverbs 3:1-3 (TLB)

"No one can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending" (Unknown).

Have you ever heard this quote?  While it's true we often do or say things that can't be changed, or we have neglected to do things that we should and the opportunity is past, we can determine how we will continue.  We may not be able to start over; but we can begin again right where we are, making things better in our lives.

The problem a lot of us face though is that we expect things to change without changing anything to bring about that change.   You've heard the expression that the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.  That just doesn't happen, if nothing changes, nothing changes!

As we begin this New Year, think about how you'd like to end the year.  Would you like to be closer to Christ than ever before?  Would you like this year to be one of the best years you've experienced regardless of what circumstances and situations you face? Rather than feeling helpless about having a relationship with God because we've failed to spend time with Him why not begin today to become closer to him.

Here are some simple suggestions to help:
  • Develop a heart for God by spending time with Him.  Get into His word, read or listen to the scripture daily and let His living Word penetrate your inner being.   Meditate on the Word and let it guide you in your thoughts and actions.  Don't cease to care for His teaching; don't ignore the Bible.
  • Pray that God will make you a person after His own heart.  Spend time with Him in prayer bringing yourself to Him for confession, fellowship and instruction.
  • Establish your life in Lovingkindness and Truth.  This means live each day with the truth of God's love in your heart.  Let His Grace and compassion lead you in your relationship with others.
  • Make the decision that you will trust in Him each day no matter what trial you may encounter.  Trust Him with all your heart, not just a part of it.  He's not going to leave you for He is faithful and true.
If you feel a distance in your relationship with the Lord, then now is the time to re-establish your walk with Him.   Doing so will insure that from this point forward things can be different and the peace of Christ will be with you, not only in 2016, but in all the days of your life.

Blessings,
Steve <><

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

We hear Jesus's words and want to respond, but so often we're too busy, too anxious, too heavily laden to take hold of His invitation. Mornings with Jesus, an annual, 366-day devotional, is your entry into His world. Jesus will comfort you, and you'll experience the delight and challenge of knowing Him and living for Him.

In Mornings with Jesus 2016, you can read and reflect on one devotion each day that will encourage you to embrace Jesus's love, to lay down your worries and walk with Him, and to focus on Him as Redeemer, Friend, and Faithful One.

Lifting up their voices in heartfelt gratitude, ten women, including best-selling authors Tricia Goyer and Cynthia Ruchti, consider the character and teachings of Jesus and share how He enriches and empowers them daily and how He wants to do the same for you.

Every day readers will enjoy a Scripture verse, reflection on Jesus's words, and a "Faith Step" that inspires and challenges.
In just five minutes a day, Mornings with Jesus will help you experience a closer relationship with Jesus. It's full of inspiring and lasting motivation and spiritual nourishment that fill you with hope and direction.

Get Out of that Pit
** 5.00 In-Store Only
Our Price $5.00
From her first breath of fresh air beyond the pit, it has never been enough for Beth Moore to be free. This best-selling author and Bible teacher who has opened the riches of Scripture to millions longs for you to be free as well-to know the Love and Presence that are better than life and the power of God's Word that defies all darkness.

Beth's journey out of the pit has been heart-rending. But from this and the poetic expressions of Psalm 40 has come the reward: a new song for her soul, given by her Saviour and offered to you in "Get Out of That Pit" - friend to friend.

This is Beth's most stirring message yet of the sheer hope, utter deliverance, and complete and glorious freedom of God:
"I waited patiently for the Lord"
"He turned to me and heard my cry"
"He lifted me out of the slimy pit"
"He set my feet on a rock"
"He put a new song in my mouth"
It is a story, a song - a salvation - that you can know, too.

For so long, Stella was known for her beauty. Now, with her heart stripped bare, she must discover who she really is.

Former pageant queen Stella Varland doesn t trust beauty anymore after her divorce. Her appearance betrayed her and led to her brokenness so instead of being beautiful, now she tries to make beautiful things, but always falls short. So she keeps her passion for her secret art to herself and focuses on her interior design work. But if she doesn t get another job soon, she ll be stuck living with her parents.

Contractor Chase Taylor is determined to live a life of no regrets after losing his fiancee in a car crash. Now he lives life at full speed, striving to see how much he can accomplish. He knows if he slows down, he ll fall apart. So he returns home to Bayou Bend to renovate the town s old theater, and is shocked to learn former flame Stella is the designer for the project.

Forced to work together, Chase and Stella battle their chemistry and their pasts as they struggle to compromise and come together on a vision for the theater. Chase doesn t understand why Stella is such a subdued version of herself, while Stella doesn t get Chase s constant need for productivity and speed. Their wills clash as they attempt to hide their brokenness and their unresolved feelings for each other until Chase breaks through Stella s walls and convinces her to enter her mosaic tile art in a contest.

A near catastrophe, a fire, and a small-town gossip mill finally force both Stella and Chase to realize that they have a choice to hold on to the shards of their pasts, or surrender their fragmented pieces to the One who makes a beautiful masterpiece from the broken. "
