Dear ,
On the day the Lord gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the Lord in front of all the people of Israel. He said, "Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon." So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies. Is this event not recorded in The Book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and it did not set as on a normal day. Joshua 10:12-13 (NLT)
The notice on my calendar tells me that this weekend we set our clocks back 1 hour in order to give us some additional daylight in the morning hours. Thinking about the shift in time reminded me of the Biblical account of Joshua's prayer for more daylight in order to defeat the enemies of Israel. He knew that if darkness came before the job was finished that the enemy would disappear into the night and Israel would not be able to defeat their foe.
Can you imagine listening to Joshua as he prayed for something so profound? I have to admit that I would most likely have thought the guy was a bit out of touch. Really Joshua?, you dare to ask God to make the sun stand still in the sky? But Joshua knew that God was able to deliver, and had faith that He would. He didn't try to limit God to his human understanding of the laws of the universe, he didn't give thought as to how God would carry out the request, he just trusted that God would provide and the result was a victory for God's children.
How about us? Do we give our burdens to God without placing God in the box of our own understanding? Do we ask for God's help but fail to believe that God is able? This account of Joshua's faith gives us insight on just how far God might go to further His kingdom through His children. What do you need from God today? Is anything too hard for Him?
Lord, please help me to realize that nothing is too big for you to handle, and, release me from limiting your power by attempting to understand your ways. Please do whatever is necessary, making use of all your resources, so that we might successfully win souls for You today.
Blessings,
Steve <><
Remember to set your clocks back 1 hour this Saturday night. Daylight savings time ends at 2:30 AM Sunday, November 1st.

Wild at Heart
God designed men to be dangerous, says John Eldredge. Simply look at the dreams and desires written in the heart of every boy: To be a hero, to be a warrior, to live a life of adventure and risk.
Sadly, most men abandon those dreams and desires-aided by a Christianity that feels like nothing more than pressure to be a "nice guy." It is no wonder that many men avoid church, and those who go are often passive and bored to death.
In this provocative book, Eldredge gives women a look inside the true heart of a man and gives men permission to be what God designed them to be-dangerous, passionate, alive, and free.

Some Parting Fun...

All I need to know I learned from Noah and the Ark.....
- Don't miss the boat
- Try to remember that we're all in the same boat.
- Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark, you know.
- Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone might ask you to do something REALLY big!
- Don't listen to critics, just get on with what has to be done.
- Build your future on high ground.
- For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
- Two heads are better than one.
- Speed isn't always an advantage, after all, the snails were on board with the cheetahs.
- When you're stressed, try floating awhile.
- Remember that the ark was built by amateurs; it was the Titanic that was built by professionals.
