Dear ,

We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work. John 9:4 (NLT)

This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry, because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized Everybody wouldn't do it. So Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Did you follow that? Sounds a bit confusing but the bottom line is that when no one takes personal responsibility, important jobs can be left undone. There is research that shows this can happen very easily when a group is asked to do something, as opposed to each of us individually. It seems that when a group of people are asked to step up to a task that the individual members of the group often assume that someone else will complete the job, or, they wait to get clues from others within the group on how to respond.

As Christians we need to make sure that we respond positively to the call of Christ to serve those around us. We need to be prayerful that God will help us know when we are to act on a request and not wait for others. We can't assume that someone else will do the job that we are called to do, even if the job is one that "Anybody" could do.

Blessings,
Steve <><

Could you be the answer to the problems you see?

Every day we are faced with the needs of those around us. Emotional. Physical. Spiritual. What are we to do about it? Are these problems for our pastors to address or is there a way for the church member to make an impact that will last?

Bestselling author Thom S. Rainer answer these questions by offering nine simple traits that all church members can incorporate into your life no matter your background, stage of life, or sense of capability.

You can do it. Now it's time to just stand up and say you will!

"I""f "is a powerful little word. Some people are stuck in "if only," trudging through lives marked with regret. But God wants us to live lives marked with possibilities, with the "what if" attitude that looks forward to the future with confidence. Why? Because the answer to "If God is for us, who can be against us?" is "No one." God is always on our side. Every day, in every way.

With his trademark enthusiasm and contagious joy, Mark Batterson helps readers overcome feelings of guilt, fear, and doubt because in Christ there is no condemnation. Unpacking the promises of Romans 8, he shows readers that they are more than conquerors--right now and forever. And because of that, the possibilities for their lives are limitless.

Christians from all walks of life will find themselves set free by this inspiring and entertaining read.

God designed men to be dangerous, says John Eldredge. Simply look at the dreams and desires written in the heart of every boy: To be a hero, to be a warrior, to live a life of adventure and risk.

Sadly, most men abandon those dreams and desires-aided by a Christianity that feels like nothing more than pressure to be a "nice guy." It is no wonder that many men avoid church, and those who go are often passive and bored to death.

In this provocative book, Eldredge gives women a look inside the true heart of a man and gives men permission to be what God designed them to be-dangerous, passionate, alive, and free.

Some Parting Fun...
The first Sunday in his new church, a pastor was giving the children's message before the sermon. He was so impressed with the magnificent stained glass in the church that he centered the message on how each of us is created to be a little part of a bigger picture, referring to the individual stained panels in the windows. It takes many little panels to make the whole picture complete.

And then he said.....

"You see, each one of you is a little pane"

And then, pointing to each child, "You're a little pane, and you're a little pane, and you're a little pane, and..."

It took a few moments to realize why everyone in the congregation was laughing so hard.
