Dear ,
Don't love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, "I will never fail you. I will never abandon you." Hebrews 13:5 (NLT)
The multimillionaire, John D. Rockefeller, was once asked the question, "How much money is enough?" He answered quite transparently, "Just a little bit more." In other words, "I will never have enough." Could this be our way of thinking as well?
The Bible doesn't say that money is evil but that the "Love of money is the root of all kinds of evil" (1 Timothy 6:10) It's good to be productive and to earn a decent living; especially if we keep our heart in the right place concerning what we acquire. Loving our wealth though, above loving what we can do with our wealth, can lead to hard hearted decisions concerning our friends, our families, and even God. If we hang onto our riches, greedily clinging to each and every penny we have, we begin walking on dangerous ground.
Author Randy Alcorn says it this way, "God prospers me not to raise my standard of living, but to raise my standard of giving." This should be our goal: "live conservatively so we can give liberally." As we receive blessings from God for our productivity remember that we are only managers of the wealth He gives, not owners. We are to use our resources, whether large or small, to bring glory and honor to God.
Blessings,
Steve <><

Simply Tuesday
|
Our obsession with bigger and faster is spinning us out of control. We move through the week breathless and bustling, just trying to keep up while longing to slow down. But real life happens in the small moments, the kind we find on Tuesday, the most ordinary day of the week. Tuesday carries moments we want to hold onto--as well as ones we'd rather leave behind. It hold secrets we can't see in a hurry--secrets not just for our schedules but for our souls. It offers us a simple bench on which to sit, observe, and share our stories.
For those being pulled under by the strong current of expectation, comparison, and hurry, relief is found more in our small moments than in our fast movements. In "Simply Tuesday," Emily P. Freeman helps readers
- stop dreading small beginnings and embrace today's work - find contentment in the now--even when the now is frustrating or discouraging - replace competition with compassion - learn to breathe in a breathless world
Jesus lived small moments well, slow moments fully, and all moments free. He lives with us still, on all our ordinary days, creating and redeeming the world both in us and through us, one small moment at a time. It's time to take back Tuesday, to release our obsession with building a life, and believe in the life Christ is building in us--every day. world.

Money, Possessions and Eternity
|
Randy Alcorn uses the Bible to approach this often touchy subject head-on, sounding a wake-up call to Christians who have adopted the world's attitude towards wealth and prosperity.
Thought-provoking arguments challenge readers to change their attitudes and use their God-given resources in ways that will impact eternity. Alcorn deals straightforwardly with materialism, stewardship, and rewards in heaven.

Some Parting Fun...
|
There was a very rich man who was just about to die and he wanted to take some of his wealth with him. So he started negotiations with God about the matter. God was not sure as it had never been done before and he did not want to set a precedence. Finally after long talks God reluctantly agreed to allow him to bring his wealth to heaven. Just a few days before he died the rich man converted all his money into gold bullion. He died and the funeral home made sure that the suitcases containing the gold bullion went with him. He arrived at the Pearly Gates with his suitcases and there was Peter. Peter told him he could not bring the suitcases into heaven. But the man said he had already spoken to God and he had said it was OK. So Peter got on the God phone and sure enough it was true. So Peter was curious as to what was so valuable that the man wanted to bring it into heaven. Peter said, "Could I look in the suitcases?" So the man opened the suitcases and Peter exclaimed, "Why are you bringing pavement to heaven!"
