Dear ,
My two year old granddaughter Emma's favorite movie is "Frozen". With the temperature staying below freezing these past several days we get a little taste of what it would be like living in a frozen world. Just last week on the drive to work I noticed the time and temperature signs along the highway registering negative degrees! Brrrrr...... It's been cold!
In the movie though, it's not just the world that's frozen. The older sister, Elsa, accidentally freezes the heart of her younger sister, Anna (although, Elsa was really the one with the frozen heart). The only way to thaw her frozen heart is from an act of true love. Just as the villain of the story is about to kill Elsa, her dying sister (Anna) throws herself in front of his sword and saves Elsa's life, which in turn thaws Anna's heart. The moral?; Love is putting others before yourself.
Our hearts too can become frozen, especially if we drift away from our relationship with God. As we lock ourselves in rooms of our own making; hiding from him, building walls that separate us from His Grace and Love, we become full of unfounded fear; even cold and lifeless. Our hearts are hardened, frozen, and unable to give or receive love. It is Jesus who steps in to save us; He puts us before Himself. And it is because of His sacrificial love that our hearts can be thawed. That's the genuine "True Love" which thaws a frozen heart.
Then, at his command, it all melts. He sends his winds, and the ice thaws. (Psalm 147:18 NLT)
Blessings,
Steve <><
I'm sure that many of you have children who enjoy watching "Frozen". I found a short Bible study outline that can be used with the movie to teach how Jesus' Love allows us to overcome fear and experience True Love.

Do we believe that God still does miracles?
Do we expect him to move in miraculous ways in our day-in and day-out lives? Maybe we'd like to see miracles, but it's hard to see past our problems. All that is about to change, like water into wine.
"There are miracles all around us all the time," says Mark Batterson, "but you won't see them if you don't know how to look for them."
Now the bestselling author of The Circle Maker reveals the incredible power of the seven miraculous signs of Jesus found in the Gospel of John. Batterson shows how they were not simply something Jesus did in the past, but something he wants to do "now," in the present. He shares true stories of people today who are experiencing miracles in their lives. And he brings to light countless miracles, big and small, that we take for granted every day that point us toward the One who healed the sick, calmed the storm, and yes, even raised the dead.
But this is more than a book about miracles. It's a book about the only One who can perform them. Batterson cautions readers, "Don't just seek miracles. Seek Jesus. And if you seek Jesus, miracles will find you."
Nothing has changed since Jesus called Lazarus out of his tomb four days after his funeral. Our impossible situations still double as God's greatest opportunity to reveal his glory. No matter how big the problem is, God is bigger still. Anyone who longs to see God work in miraculous ways today will love Batterson's faith-building, life-giving message.

Some Parting Fun...

A couple recently purchased an old home in Northern New York State from two elderly sisters. Winter was fast approaching they were concerned about the house's lack of insulation.
"If they could live here all those years, so can we!" the husband confidently declared. One January night the temperature plunged to below zero, and the couple woke up to find interior walls covered with frost. The next morning, the husband called the sisters to ask how they had kept the house warm. After a rather brief conversation, he hung up. "For the past 30 years," he muttered, "they've gone to Florida for the winter."
