Dear ,

"Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or without clothes and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and visit You?' Matthew 25:37-39 (HCSB)

Some time ago I read a devotional about an object lesson given in a seminary class.

As the students walked into the classroom, they noticed a huge target taped to one wall. On the opposite side of the room sat a table with many darts.   The professor told the students that he would like them to draw a picture of someone they disliked, or who had made them angry, on the target and he would allow them to throw darts at the person's image.

The students were more than willing to comply, and began drawing images of those people in their lives who had "wronged" them.   One young man drew a picture of a person who had stolen his girlfriend. Another penciled out an image of her little brother. One person depicted a former friend who had betrayed her trust. After everyone had placed a person on the target, the students lined up and started throwing darts.   Some of the class threw their darts so hard that the target was ripping apart. Everyone was having a great time while laughing hysterically.

Finally, the professor asked everyone to stop and be seated. As the students shuffled to take their seats, the professor began removing the target from the wall. As the torn pieces of the target came down, a portrait of Jesus began to emerge. A quiet hush fell over the lecture hall as each student viewed the mangled picture; holes and jagged marks covered Jesus's face and he was pierced with many darts.

The professor addressed the class saying only these words:

And the King will answer them, "I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me." Matthew 25:40 (HCSB)

How often do we lob our darts of jealousy, envy, mistrust, gossip, anger, or even hatred toward others?   We need to understand that when we do so we are also piercing our Lord through our thoughts and actions. Rather than retaliating, or even thinking ill toward another, let's pray for blessings on those who have "wronged" us, and pray for ourselves for wisdom and compassion in our spirit to do so.

Blessings,

Steve

Your Own Jesus
Your Own Jesus
In Store or On Line

Casting Crowns lead singer Mark Hall asks, Do you have your own Jesus? Why do you feel close to God one minute and so far away the next? Why does your faith seem empty? Why is it so easy to compromise with the world?

Perhaps it s because we have merely inherited someone else's Jesus, relying on what we have seen and heard from family, friends, or pastors.

A true storyteller and a teacher with a heart for ministry, Mark Hall traces the downward spiral caused by spiritual compromise with the world, and then charts the upward road to wholeness and health that comes when we claim our very own Jesus. You need to discover your own Jesus. The real Jesus. The one who wants you to be honest, committed, and uncompromising. The one who is waiting to have a relationship with you. Move past imitating a religion to experiencing a relationship that is vibrant, personal, and fulfilling.

Do we believe that God still does miracles? Do we expect him to move in miraculous ways in our day-in and day-out lives? Maybe we'd like to see miracles, but it's hard to see past our problems.
All that is about to change, like water into wine.
"There are miracles all around us all the time," says Mark Batterson, "but you won't see them if you don't know how to look for them."

Now the bestselling author of "The Circle Maker" reveals the incredible power of the seven miraculous signs of Jesus found in the Gospel of John. Batterson shows how they were not simply something Jesus did in the past, but something he wants to do "now," in the present. He shares true stories of people today who are experiencing miracles in their lives. And he brings to light countless miracles, big and small, that we take for granted every day that point us toward the One who healed the sick, calmed the storm, and yes, even raised the dead.

But this is more than a book about miracles. It's a book about the only One who can perform them. Batterson cautions readers, "Don't just seek miracles. Seek Jesus. And if you seek Jesus, miracles will find you."
Nothing has changed since Jesus called Lazarus out of his tomb four days after his funeral. Our impossible situations still double as God's greatest opportunity to reveal his glory. No matter how big the problem is, God is bigger still. Anyone who longs to see God work in miraculous ways today will love Batterson's faith-building, life-giving message.

BOOKS OF THE MONTH
All In
In Store Price - $5.00

The Gospel costs nothing. You can't earn it or buy it. It can only be received as a free gift compliments of God's grace. It doesn't cost anything, but it demands everything. It demands that we go "all in," a term that simply means placing all that you have into God's hands. Pushing it all in. And that's where we get stuck---spiritual no man's land. We're afraid that if we go all in that we might miss out on what this life has to offer. It's not true.

The only thing you'll miss out on is everything God has to offer. And the good news is this: if you don't hold out

on God, God won't hold out on you.

Not a Fan
In Store Special! - $5.00

Are you a follower of Jesus?

Don't answer too quickly. In fact, you may want to read this book before you answer at all. Consider it a "Define the Relationship" conversation to determine exactly where you stand.

You may indeed be a passionate, fully devoted follower of Jesus or you may be just a fan who admires Jesus but isn't ready to let him cramp your style. Then again, maybe you're not into Jesus, period. In any case, don't take the question---Are you a follower of Jesus?---lightly.

Some people don't know what they've said yes to and other people don't realize what they've said no to, says Pastor Kyle Idleman. But Jesus is ready to clearly define the relationship he wants with his followers.

Not a Fan calls you to consider the demands and rewards of being a true disciple. With frankness sprinkled with humor, Idleman invites you to live the way Jesus lived, love the way he loved, pray the way he prayed, and never give up living for the One who gave his all for you.

    Some Parting Fun...

So far today, God, I've done all right. I haven't gossiped, haven't lost my temper, haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or over-indulgent. I'm really glad about that.

But in a few minutes, God, I'm going to get out of bed and from then on I'm probably going to need a lot more help.

    Thank you.
    In Jesus name. Amen
