I surrender all, I surrender all, all to thee my blessed Saviour, I surrender all.
Each week as I'm searching for something to share with you, I pray that the Lord will lead me to a topic or Scripture. For the past two weeks I've been experiencing a strong sense that the subject this week should be "Surrender". It seems that everywhere I've turned for the past several days the word Surrender has popped up. I have heard it in the news, I opened a daily devotional and there it was, and when listening to Oneplace.com I heard a sermon on Surrender.
Almost immediately I also thought of a song that I've probably sung a hundred times; "I Surrender All" and began thinking about what it really means to surrender all. The author of the song, Judson W. Van DeVenter, was a successful teacher who felt the call to become an evangelist. He surrendered an established and promising career, leaving behind the secure for the unknown. By surrendering all, he also became an influential person in the life of young Billy Graham.
So what does it mean to surrender? And, if my surrender is something less than total surrender, is it really surrender?
A couple of good questions that each of us must answer because the terms of our surrender to Christ are unconditional. In order to receive His best in our lives requires us to relinquish ourselves in absolute surrender to His will. It doesn't work if we surrender a part but continue to hold on to pieces that we want to control.
For example, do I give Jesus all of my cares, worries, concerns, and burdens or do I continue to hold on to some because I have doubts that He can carry them for me? Do I insist on managing my wealth without putting it all under His direction? Am I faithful to tithe, and additionally give to others, no matter what financial hardships come my way? Do I hold on to my time as if it was my own, or do I allow Christ to direct my activities? Are my words, deeds, and thoughts unconditionally surrendered to His standard, or do I keep control of them for myself?
My prayer today, as we consider these things, is that each of us will meet the terms of Christ's call to an unconditional surrender. It is through total surrender that we find perfect peace and fulfill His will for our lives. It is through unconditional surrender that Christ is able to use us to our full potential for His Glory. May we abandon ourselves, and our desires, submitting to His Grace and perfect guidance. Amen
Blessings,
Steve

Say Yes!
|

If you've been holding back from stepping out in faith to obey what the Lord is telling you to do, it's time to just say Yes! Meet the people who are Logos
| Meet Sunshine Sparks Sunshine has been serving customers at Logos for over three years. Many of you will recognize her cheery smile and warm greeting as the face of Logos but Sunshine serves our Lord in many other ways as well. She is very active in her local church as she lends her voice to the choir, helps with VBS music and often assists with the youth program. Sunshine does many things around the store while serving you, including the management of our greeting cards, and putting together seasonal and promotional displays. She is a faithful, dedicated team member who exemplifies what it means to have a servant's heart. When things get a little hectic, as they often do, you might hear her reminding others to just "Let go and let God" as this quote has been one of her favorites for years. There are a couple of books that Sunshine would recommend to anyone looking for a great read; "Dinner with a Perfect Stranger" by Gregory David and "The Noticer" by Andy Andrews. Both are thought provoking fiction reads that are sure to bring you closer to God. Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who have been called according to His purpose", is one of Sunshine's life verses. Whether singing to bring glory to God, spending time with family and friends, or serving others through her church and at Logos, she reflects the love of Christ to all she meets. She truly is living out His purpose for her life and bringing goodness to our community. |

So you believe in God. Now what?
Just before he left, Jesus sent his follower into the world with a revolutionary mission: to change the world by proclaiming God's truth and demonstrating his incredible love. But the single task he gave us to accomplish remains "unfinished."
Rich Stearns takes us on a breathtaking journey to rediscover the critical mission of Christ in our world today and the richness of God's calling on our lives.
Why are we here, what is our purpose, and where do we fit in the bigger story that God is writing? How should our faith affect our careers, our money, our families, and our lives? And why does it matter? We will find our deepest purpose only when we discover the unique role God created for us to play in his unfolding story.

|

But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
--Acts 20:24 (ESV)
Growing old has been the greatest surprise of my life," says Billy Graham, known by many as God's Ambassador. "I would have never guessed what God had in store for me, and I know that as I am nearing home, He will not forsake me the last mile of the way."
In "Nearing Home" this man of faith--now in his nineties--explores the challenges of aging while gleaning foundational truths from Scripture. Billy Graham invites us to journey with him as he considers the golden years while anticipating the hope of being reunited with his wife, Ruth, in his heavenly home that eclipses this world. "When granted many years of life, growing old in age is natural, but growing old with grace is a choice," says the author. "Growing older with grace is possible for all who will set their hearts and minds on the Giver of grace, the Lord Jesus Christ."
Join Billy Graham as he shares the challenges of fading strength but still standing strong in his commitment to finishing life well.
"Explore with me not only the realities of life as we grow older but also the hope and fulfillment and even joy that can be ours once we learn to look at these years from God's point of view and discover His strength to sustain us every day." --BILLY GRAHAM
