One of my favorite movie scenes is from the film "Facing the Giants".
Mr. Bridges, a concerned prayer warrior who frequently walks the halls of the high school briefly stopping at each locker as he prays for the student, one day steps into the football coach's office. He looks at Coach Taylor, the head football coach, and delivers a message that he had sensed God leading him to share with the coach. The message was one of encouragement, telling a discouraged Coach Taylor that he was being given an opportunity to make a difference, that a door had been opened to the coach and to not give up as God had plans for the school, working through the coach.
As he stepped out of the office the coach followed him into the hallway for some clarification. Mr. Bridges continued with this parable...
"I heard a story about two farmers who desperately needed rain. Both of them prayed for rain, but only one of them went out and prepared his fields to receive it. Which one do you think trusted God to send the rain?"
The coach replied, "Well, the one who prepared his fields for it."
Mr. Bridges continued, "Which one are you?, God will send the rain when He is ready. You need to prepare your field to receive it."
The point of the parable is that when God has something for you to do, do it with all your heart. Rather than sitting back, feeling sorry for yourself or idly waiting for God to move, begin making preparations for that movement knowing through faith that God will provide. Take the offensive by lifting your heart in prayer, meditate on His Word, and trust Him to provide.
Prepare your field to receive His rain, it will come!

A painter was hired to paint the exterior of a church. His practice was to thin the paint so that he could make a larger profit.
As he was painting the church a torrential rain began to fall and it washed all of the paint off.
Then, as quickly as the rain began, it ended, and the sun came out.
As the painter gazed skyward, he heard a voice from above saying:
" Repaint ! Go, and thin no more."
