And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. Matthew 7:25 (NASB)
Have you seen the show on the Travel Channel called "Sand Masters"? The show is based upon the ability of several sand sculptors to create amazing works of art using only water and beach sand. They spend hours delicately molding, sculpting, carving and caring for beautiful sand castles and other compositions. Each one is unique and detailed, painstakingly composed despite all obstacles. It's an amazing show and fun to watch.
It reminds me though of how important it is to build upon a solid foundation. While each work of art sculpted on the beach is amazing, it is inevitable that the masterpiece will be destroyed by the first wind, rain, or surf that comes along. Sand just isn't a good material to use when constructing something of value.
Isn't that how it is with our Christian experience? We can build fancy buildings, intricate programs, interesting events, fantastic sermons, and wonderful worship experiences; but if we build them on the sands of human effort, rather than on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ, our efforts will be doomed to destruction when the first wave hits. We must not forget that without Christ, we are nothing.
How are you building your house of faith? Is it on your own effort, thinking that good works will count for anything? Or, are you building your faith on the solid rock of Jesus Christ; embracing His Word as the foundation for your life, living according to His commandments?
Only one way will provide protection against the elements of evil. Choose a foundation that will provide the necessary strength to persevere. On Christ the Solid Rock, I stand, all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand.
Blessings,
Steve

Too Busy Not To Pray
|
 | In Store or On Line |
For the past twenty years Too Busy Not to Pray has stood as a classic on prayer, helping Christians all over the world slow down to draw near to God. During those years, the world certainly hasn't slowed down. If anything, the pace, intensity and number of distractions have only increased. Brokenness and pain seem to have increased as well, with news of civil war, poverty, broken families and sex-trafficking touching us daily.
The urgent need for prayer is clear, but busyness still keeps many of us from finding time to pray. Two truths haven't changed in twenty years: God is the same powerful, just, holy God he's always been; and true prayer--prayer that changes us and allows us to participate in God's work in the world--can't happen on the fly.
So Bill Hybels once again offers us his practical, time-tested ideas on slowing down to pray. Revised throughout and including a new introduction and new chapter on prayer and compassion for the world, this twentieth-anniversary edition of Too Busy Not to Pray calls both young and old to make prayer a priority, and broadens our vision for what our eternal, powerful God does when his people slow down to pray.

SandStory

In his teenage years, Joe Castillo developed a passion for using art to tell stories. Joe has told his "WordStories" to audiences for more than thirty years.
He also created "ArtStory", presentations that combined those stories with illustrations drawn for live audiences. His newest adventure is "SandStory." Drawing in sand on a light table, he is able to tell stories to music. These fluid illustrations are seen by the audience as they watch the images projected on a large screen.
"SandStory" went viral on YouTube, and hundreds of invitations from around the world crowded his calendar. It became a totally unexpected new career. Joe wrote down the crazy adventures he and his wife Cindy were having on the road. This book is the inside record of the fun, fascinating, inspirational, and exciting adventure of how sand changed his life.

God Less America

Pay attention, people of faith. Dark clouds are gathering. The winds of intolerance are blowing. There's a great storm approaching.
American Christians are facing uncertain times. Our nation's values are under assault. Religious liberty has been undermined. We live in a day when right is now wrong and wrong is now right. The vicious leftwing attack against the recent traditional marriage stance of Chick-fil-A should serve as a wakeup call to people of faith. It's not about a chicken sandwich. It's about religious liberty. It's about free speech. It's about the future of our nation.
As a reporter covering the culture war for FOX News, Todd Starnes is on the front lines of these attacks against traditional values. In God Less America, he uses both recent news stories and compelling interviews with today's top conservative leaders to bring to light what is happening across our country. In his award-winning, satire-meets-serious writing style, he strikes an important blow in today's culture wars.

Four Lists
of
Spiritual Gifts
This free e-Chart, "Four Lists of Spiritual Gifts" is taken from the pamphlet Spiritual Gifts
The Spiritual Gifts booklet explains each of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and what they mean. When you became a Christian, the Holy Spirit gave you spiritual gifts to build up fellow believers, both in your own church and worldwide. This pamphlet defines spiritual gifts, and describes the differences between the biblical gifts. The Spiritual Gifts Test helps you identify your spiritual gifts, and explains how to use your gifts to benefit others.
Each gift of the Spirit is vital and none is more important than others. No matter what your giftedness is, you play an important role in strengthening the church.
Did You Know? 63% of Christians Don't Know Their Spiritual Gifts
A recent Barna study showed that nearly two-thirds of Christians don't know their spiritual gift(s), don't think they have a gift at all, or claim to have a gift that is not actually biblical.
Most Christians know something about Spiritual Gifts, but many don't realize how important they are. Believers are given Spiritual Gifts to contribute to the growth of the church. Spiritual Gifts are important because Scripture says that the church needs all of the gifts working together to help build the Body of Christ. Every believer counts! This pamphlet includes a Spiritual Gifts Questionnaire to determine which gift(s) you might have.
The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to Christians to help build the life and ministry of the Church. Yet, a large number of Christians do not use or even recognize their spiritual gift. Rose Publishing's Spiritual Gifts pamphlet will help you learn how important Spiritual Gifts are and how to develop the gift(s) the Holy Spirit has given you.
Topics in the Spiritual Gifts pamphlet include -
- A self-test "Spiritual Gifts Questionnaire" to determine which gift or gifts you may have.
- Description of each gift and how to develop it more as you minister to other believers.
Use for
- Individual study
- Discipleship
- Small Group or Sunday School class
- Christian School
- Homeschoolers

Some Parting Fun...
|
Johnny's Mother looked out the window and noticed Him "playing church" with their cat. He had the cat sitting quietly and he was preaching to it. She smiled and went about her work.
A while later she heard loud meowing and hissing and ran back to the open window to see Johnny baptizing the cat in a tub of water.
She called out, "Johnny, stop that! The cat is afraid of water!"
Johnny looked up at her and said, "He should have thought about that before he joined my church."
