Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Acts 16:22-25
Have you ever been up against some struggle that takes all of your resolve and courage to bear? Have your days been filled with problems that cause you to stumble under the heavy burden? Have your hopes, dreams, and plans for life been crushed by circumstances beyond your control?
We all have times of stress in our lives where the temptation to adopt a negative attitude is very great. It often seems so much easier to give in to self-pity than to set our minds and hearts on that which is good in spite of the circumstance. Yet, when we choose to have a positive attitude, our lives are improved and those around us see Christ living in us rather than the problem overtaking us.
While we may never be beaten and thrown in jail, like Paul and Silas, we do have one thing in common; our ability to decide how we respond to any circumstance we are faced with. No one can dictate to you how you will respond to those things that come your way. Do everything without grumbling or arguing and keep a positive attitude, no matter what you are faced with. When we decide to praise rather than grumble, God will give us a peace that passes all understanding.
Blessings,

The Inspiring Story of a World War II Hero's Miraculous Survival at Sea
July 30, 1945--The USS "Indianapolis" and its 1,196-man crew is making its way toward a small island in the South Pacific. The ship is sailing unescorted, assured by headquarters the waters are safe. It is midnight, and Marine Edgar Harrell and several others have sacked out on deck rather than spend the night in their hot and muggy quarters below. Fresh off a top-secret mission to deliver uranium for the atomic bombs that would ultimately end World War II, they are unaware their ship is being watched. Minutes later, six torpedoes are slicing toward the "Indy" . . .
For five horrifying days and nights after their ship went down, Harrell and his shipmates had to fend for themselves in the open seas. Plagued by dehydration, exposure, saltwater poisoning, and shark attacks, their numbers were cruelly depleted before they were miraculously rescued. This is one man's story of courage, ingenuity, and faith in God's providence in the midst of the worst naval disaster in U.S. history.

The Story of How One Girl Embraced the Truth of Who She Was, Flaws and All, and Decided to Dream Again
Like every girl, Sarah Jakes dreamed of a life full of love, laughter, and happy endings. But her dreams changed dramatically when she became pregnant at age fourteen, a reality only compounded by the fact that her father, Bishop T.D. Jakes, was one of the most influential megachurch pastors in the nation. As a teen mom and a high-profile preacher's kid, her road was lonely. She was shunned at school, gossiped about at church. And a few years later, when a fairy-tale marriage ended in a spiral of hurt and rejection, she could have let her pain dictate her future.
Instead, she found herself surrounded by a God she'd given up on, crashing headlong with Him into a destiny she'd never dreamed of. For the first time, she shares her captivating journey. Unflinchingly honest and deeply vulnerable, Sarah's story is a vivid reminder that God can turn even the deepest pain into His perfection. But more than a memoir, "Lost and Found" offers hope and encouragement to women of all ages who, like Sarah, find themselves wandering the detours of a life--and shows that no matter how lost they feel, they, too, can be found.

Some Parting Fun...

An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into mischief, finally asked him, 'How do you expect to get into Heaven?'
The boy thought it over and said, 'Well, I'll run in and out and in and out and keep slamming the door until St. Peter says,
'For Heaven's sake, Jack, come in or stay out.'
