Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour. Matthew 25:13 (ESV)
A recent radio ad stated "You never know when the day before is the day before" when referring to preparation for a natural disaster. Another advertisement recently seen on television depicts a woman, Laura, opening an announcement that reads "Your heart attack arrives in 2 days". Hearing these two commercials reminded me of a couple of principles that as a Christian I should never forget.
First, it's not for me to worry about the day, or hour that Christ will return. Jesus himself said that the time of His second coming would be known only to God the Father. There's nothing that I can do about the day or hour so I shouldn't spend any time attempting to do the calculations. Just knowing that He promised to return is the important thing.
Second, I should be prepared for Christ's coming as if He would come at any moment because He could. Whether He comes through the second coming to Earth, or whether He comes to me as I enter death's door it could be at any time. A friend of mine who served many years as an EMT recently shared that so many times he was called to assist in tragic situations where someone who had been enjoying life one moment was in the next instant gone. We never know the day or hour but do know that it 'is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment'. Hebrews 9:27 (KJV)
The real question then is, "Am I Ready"? A sign along Highway 27 just South of Alexandria, KY stated, "Life if full of second chances, they are called 'Tomorrow'". While a great thought, and many times true; for each of us there will be a "tomorrow" that does not come. Don't put off a decision for Christ that will have eternal consequences, receive Him today as your Lord and Savior and begin watching, eagerly awaiting His coming.
Blessings

Hope Changes Everything
|

Hope changes everything.
It can disarm guilt, shatter shame, and put your past in its place. All you have to do is make the choice to let it in. It won't be easy. It won't be quick. But it is possible and we serve a God who promises over and over again that anything is possible.
Pete Wilson, pastor and the author of "Plan B," presents a new look at the power of healing through hope, revealing 4 unique choices that have the potential to change your life forever.
With Wilson's telltale cadence and candor, "Let Hope In" explores accounts of seemingly hopeless moments in the Bible illustrating God's ultimate plan for healing by letting hope fill the dark places of your past.
Discover how pain that is not transformed becomes transferred. Embrace the freedom of being okay with not being okay. Learn that a life of trusting is far more magnificent than a life of pleasing. Because hurt people hurt people, but free people have the power to free people.
So make today the day that you get unstuck. The day you fill your past with the light of hope, the day you say good-bye to regret and shame. The day you choose to change your future and embrace who God created you to be, simply by making the choice to let hope in.

The Last Days

Osama bin Laden is dead. Saddam's regime is buried. Baghdad lies in ruins.
Now the eyes of the world are on Jon Bennett and Erin McCoy, two senior White House advisors, as they arrive in the Middle East to offer a historic Arab-Israeli peace plan and the American president's new vision of freedom and democracy. But in the shadows lie men whose hearts are filled with evil--men for whom the prospect of peace goes against everything they believe. And soon one terrifying scheme after another begins to unfold.
As Jon and Erin face a battle for control of Jerusalem and the Holy Land and an Iraqi plan to rebuild ancient Babylon, they can't help but wonder: Are such signs evidence that they are living in the last days before the return of Christ?

In every age people have felt sure that the book of Revelation described events in their time. As nations arm themselves for war, we think of Armageddon. As evil rulers grow in power, we look for the antichrist. As the powers of darkness threaten to overwhelm us, we cry, "Come, Lord Jesus!" Amid the uncertainties of our age, Revelation asures us of the triumph of God. 14 studies for individuals or groups.
These revised LifeGuide Bible Studies feature additional questions for starting group discussions and for meeting God in personal reflection, together with expanded leader's notes and a "Now or Later" section in each study.

Some Parting Fun...
|
A farm boy accidentally overturned his wagonload of corn in the road. The farmer who lived nearby came to investigate. "Hey, Willis," he called out, "forget your troubles for a spell and come on in and have dinner with us. Then I'll help you get the wagon up."
"That's mighty nice of you," Willis answered, "But I don't think Pa would like me to."
"Aw, come on, son!" the farmer insisted.
"Well, okay," the boy finally agreed. "But Pa won't like it."
After a hearty dinner, Willis thanked his host. "I feel a lot better now, but I just know Pa is going to be real upset."
"Don't be foolish!" exclaimed the neighbor. "By the way, where is he?"
"Under the wagon.".
Procrastination is my sin
It brings me naught but sorrow.
I know that I should stop it
In fact, I will...tomorrow. -Gloria Pitzer
