"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12
What is a mother? The dictionary describes a mother as a woman who has borne a child or the origin or source of something like a mother plant.
Mother means so much more than the dictionary describes; A mother has selfless devotion, limitless sacrifices and love that passes understanding.
Here are several quotes from people you'll recognize concerning their honor for their mother.
"I learned more about Christianity from my mother than from all the theologians in England." (John Wesley)
"All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother." (Abraham Lincoln)
"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts." (Washington Irving)
"When I was a child my mother said to me, 'If you become a soldier, you'll be a general. If you become a monk, you'll be the pope.' Instead I became a painter and wound up as Picasso." (Pablo Picasso)
My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her. (George Washington)
"The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom." (Henry Ward Beecher)
"Mother - that was the bank where we deposited all our hurts and worries." (T. DeWitt Talmage)
Remember to give thanks for your mother this Mother's Day and if possible tell her in person.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!
Blessings

Mom's in Prayer
|
 | In Store or On Line |
Fern Nichols is a passionate believer in the power of prayer. She knows that a regular habit of prayer can change things--can bring home wayward children, heal broken marriages, and provide answers to desperate situations. Prayer can also bring a new kind of peace and contentment no matter what hardships or disappointments we face. But most important, Fern knows that through prayer we can experience, firsthand, an ever-increasing intimacy with God.
In Moms In Prayer, Fern Nichols reveals how she teaches women to pray in a way that changes their lives and the lives of those they love. She teaches the principles and practices that will not only revolutionize the way people think about prayer, but the way they do pray, leading them into a deeper intimacy with Jesus, who is always interceding on our behalf.
Sparkling with real-life stories of God at work in the lives of praying moms, Fern introduces us to the four prayers that are the foundation of the Moms In Prayer approach to prayer: Praise--Praying according to the attributes of God Confession--Breaking strongholds Thanksgiving--Expressing a grateful heart Intercession--Standing in the gap with Jesus.

Some Parting Fun...
|
Baby Bear goes downstairs and sits in his small chair at the table, he looks into his small bowl. It is empty. "Who's been eating my porridge?!!", he squeaks. Papa Bear arrives at the big table and sits in his big chair. He looks into his big bowl, and it is also empty. "Who's been eating my Porridge?!!," he roars.
Momma Bear puts her head through the serving hatch from the kitchen and yells, "For Pete's sake, how many times do we have to go through this? It was Momma Bear who got up first, it was Momma Bear who woke everyone in the house, it was Momma Bear who made the coffee, it was Momma Bear who unloaded the dishwasher from last night, and put everything away, it was Momma Bear who went out in the cold early morning air to fetch the newspaper, it was Momma Bear who set the table, it was Momma Bear who put the cat out, cleaned the litter box, and filled the cat's water and food dish, and, now that you've decided to drag your sorry bear-butts downstairs, and grace Momma Bear's kitchen with your grumpy presence, listen good, cause I'm only going to say this one more time . . . ..............
"I HAVEN'T MADE THE PORRIDGE YET !!"
