Dear ,

As I reflect upon Easter this year I'm reminded of a song that our choir sang a few years ago entitled "Ten Thousand Angels". The song remembered the suffering that Christ endured on the cross for our sins and that at any time, he could have called Ten Thousand Angels to His aid.

Can you imagine the scene in heaven as our Lord was unjustly accused, brutally tortured, and inhumanely executed?   I can only imagine that the Angels were chomping at the bit, eagerly awaiting just a whisper from Jesus asking for their intervention. They must have been poised for battle, ready to rescue and bestow justice, clean house and set things straight. But the cry for help never came; Christ knew what was at stake, and completed His work so that you and I could have salvation.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 (KJV)

Even though Jesus could have escaped, He knew that in order for us to be free He had to become the sacrifice for our sins. I'm ashamed that He had to endure what He did on my behalf but I'm so thankful that He did. Because of His love for me, and my acceptance of His gift, I am now free of sin and bound to Him forever.

Yes, he could have called Ten Thousand Angels, but He didn't, He died alone; for you and me.

Blessings

The Heart of the Story
Heart of the Story

The Heart of the Story will help you see God's Word in a new and inspiring light. In the Bible's seemingly disconnected stories you'll discover one grand, unfolding epic---God's story from Genesis onward, and your own story contained within it.

To understand the Bible, says author and pastor Randy Frazee, you need bifocal lenses, because two perspectives are involved. The Lower Story, our story, is actually many stories of men and women interacting with God in the daily course of life. The Upper Story is God's story, the tale of his great, overarching purpose that fits all the individual stories together like panels in one unified mural.

In 31 chapters, The Heart of the Story will open your eyes to God's master-plan unfolding in the lives of the Bible's characters---and in your own life. Discover the heart of God's Upper Story, and the joy that comes as you align your story with God's.

Some Parting Fun....

Young Ernie and his family were invited to have Easter Sunday lunch at his grandmother's house. Everyone was seated around the table as the food was being served.  When Ernie received his plate he started eating straight away.

'Ernie, wait until we say grace,' demanded his father.

'I don't have to,' the five year old replied.

'Of course you do, Ernest,' his mother insisted rather forcefully. 'We always say a prayer before eating at our house.'

'That's at our house,' Ernie explained, 'but this is Grandma's house, and she knows how to cook.'
