Tomorrow, February 7, is National Wear Red Day. Wear Red Day was established several years ago by the American Heart Association to raise awareness in the fight against heart disease in women. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives than all forms of cancer combined.
As Christians, we know that there is another form of heart disease that is claiming the very soul of our nation. It is the heart disease of Sin. No one is exempt, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, but we don't have to remain diseased. For it is through the Crimson fountain that we are saved. The bright Red blood of Christ removes the hard heart of stone and replaces it with a living model that will last through eternity.
Wear Red tomorrow in support of the American Heart Association and of those suffering with heart disease. Each time you think of it, while seeing all of the red, remember to pray, not only for the physical, but for those suffering from spiritual heart disease as well. Let's lift our hearts and voices together in prayer that God would illuminate our nation with spiritual light that will shine truth into the darkness of cold, stony hearts.
Lord, use me this day to be the light that enables someone suffering with spiritual heart disease to find your cure, and use me as well to bring your comfort to those suffering the physical affliction of a diseased heart. Amen
