Dear ,

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.. Isaiah 40:3 (KJV)

Have you ever thought about the word "Prepare"?

Webster's online dictionary defines the word prepare as:

  • to make (someone or something) ready for some activity, purpose, use, etc.
  • to make yourself ready for something that you will be doing, something that you expect to happen, etc.
  • to make or create (something) so that it is ready for use

In the original Hebrew, the word "Kuwn" translated to the English "Prepare", has a connotation of being firmly established, secure, enduring as in a foundation.

For several weeks now many of us have been busy with Christmas preparations of one kind or another. Hanging festive decorations throughout the house, making plans on the calendar for festive holiday family meals, or for other activities that only come once a year. Some have been preparing for parties, many are making their gift giving lists and checking them twice. Others have spent hours in practice for the annual presentation of Christmas music, and the list goes on. Most everyone has been involved, even if it is just as a spectator, in making things special for the season.

As we continue with preparations for Christmas celebrations, let's each ask these questions; am I preparing a way for the Lord? Have I built a foundation in my heart where His truth can endure? Will others be able to see the way of the Lord through me because of my steadfast, intentional preparation?

This season you may be the only Christmas Light that shines for someone who is struggling through the desert. Your example may very well be the way of the Lord to someone searching for the true meaning of Christmas. Take some time each day to prepare, to become filled with the real reason for all of our celebrations, Jesus Christ, so that you can become another voice of him that crieth in the wilderness.

Blessings

Some Parting Fun....

" Thanks for the electric guitar you gave me for Christmas," little Christopher said to his uncle the first time he saw him after the holidays. "It's the best present I ever got!"

"that's great," said his uncle, "Do you know how to play it?"

"Oh, I don't play it," the little guy said, "My mom gives me a dollar a day not to play it during the day and my dad gives me five dollars a week not to play it at night."

Smiles To You
