Maranatha!

Come Thou long expected Jesus

Born to set Thy people free;

From our fears and sins release us,

Let us find our rest in Thee.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas we anticipate the coming birth, the expectation of Immanuel, God with Us. It is a good thing, and we should remember our Savior's birth. Yet, in remembering His birth we must not forget that the story doesn't end at a stable in Bethlehem. The story continues and we long for another coming, a glorious return of our King Jesus.

Maranatha is an Aramaic word that means "the Lord is coming" or "come, O Lord." Early Christians, facing great persecution from Roman authority, were encouraged by the promise of Jesus' second coming. Maranatha!, became a common greeting between oppressed believers finding hope in the expression; "The Lord is Coming!"

Today, believers should expect Him to come at any time, and every day we should long for Him to come. Maranatha helps us to keep our eyes on the eternal things rather than the day to day problems we may endure. Maranatha should remind us to put Christmas festivities into proper perspective. Maranatha reassures us that the birth we celebrate this season is but a prelude to the celebration to come.

To those who are struggling with "holiday" festivities, Maranatha! To those who are burdened with worry today, Maranatha! To those who are filled with anxiety and stress this season, Maranatha!

The Christmas story is illustrated but only partially colored, so there is plenty for little ones to color in, personalizing their very own advent calendar, which can then be displayed for all the family.

Meet Jill Hardie, the author of "The Sparkle Box" from 10 AM to Noon.
Jill will be reading her book and signing copies as well.  Bring your children to hear this great story of what we can give to Jesus.  Each child will receive a Sparkle Box and create their very own Sparkle craft.

Every Saturday in December, plus the Week of Christmas, stop in to enjoy some Hot Wassail and goodies and enjoy the warm friendly atmosphere.  We'd love to see you. 

As a little girl climbed onto Santa's lap, Santa asked the usual question. "And what would you like for Christmas?"
