We Gather Together to Ask the Lord's Blessing...
I have so many fond childhood memories of Thanksgiving Day celebrations. Watching the Macy's parade at home then gathering at Grandma's or Uncle Earl's for a fantastic day of feasting and being with family. Each year after the Thanksgiving meal the rest of the afternoon found the guys watching football, or listening to the reel to reel stereo, while the girls were busy with a holiday craft of some kind.
There were no "Black Friday" sales that started on Thanksgiving Day; come to think of it I don't remember ever hearing about "Black Friday" as a child. No newspapers stuffed full of advertisements or TV commercials with all the great deals too good to pass up. Things really seemed to be a lot simpler.
We often forget about those simpler times of days gone by, but we need to remember that Thanksgiving memories are being made for our children today. Take the time to relax and enjoy the things that are eternal rather than worrying about the project plan for getting to all the stores.
This Thanksgiving Day may your home be filled with the joy of Christ as you give honor and thanks for the many blessings He has given.

A Time for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving thoughts are the kind of thoughts that we should have all year long. For it is the folks with thankful hearts whose lives are filled with song.
We should take time for kindness to those we hold most dear,and just extend a helping hand to others through the year.
Let's set aside some quiet time and share it with a friend. For friendships bring a special joy and pleasure without end.
So may the blessings of this day that I would ask for you, now fill you with Thanksgiving Peace that lasts the whole year through!

The South Family Resource Center currently provides weekend Back Pack Kits to 56 students every week. These packs provide food for students who quite possibly would not have anything to eat until they returned to school on Monday. Food items donated at Logos this weekend will be placed in kits for distribution by volunteers at Plum Creek Christian church on Sunday, December 8th.
The Goshorn family, from right here in Alexandria, have been working very diligently the past three years preparing to work as missionaries to Peru. They are completing language and cultural training in Costa Rico and will soon be serving in Peru.
