Logos Christian Bookstore Newsletter

Dear ,

In just a couple of weeks we will be celebrating Thanksgiving and I have been thinking a lot about all that I have to be thankful for.   I am so thankful for my loving wife and family, my Christian brothers and sisters, my home and work.   I am thankful for the privilege of living in the United States, and for all the blessings inherited as a citizen. I'm thankful for health and life, and for the beauty of this majestic creation in which we live.   Most of all, I am thankful for our Father's loving, redeeming grace, through His Son Jesus, given so freely so that I have the assurance of salvation.

There are so many good things to be thankful for! But what about the hard times we experience? We all go through some of these times of life as well; the times of loneliness, illness, bad decisions leading to unfortunate consequences, accidents, the loss of a loved one, depression, and any number of other painful circumstances.   What are we to do in these times? How can we be thankful when going through the valley of darkness?

Paul says in First Thessalonians that we are to be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. That means that no matter what I am going through that I am to be thankful.   Giving thanks in the hard times can be difficult, but it has been my experience that when I put my concerns in Jesus's hands, and give thanks to Him for his love for me, my spirit is refreshed.  The circumstance may not be removed but I have the confidence that no matter what, I am in His care.

In all things give thanks.   God will use the good times as well as the bad times to bring Glory to His name. Give thanks when things are good; don't take the good for granted. Give thanks when things are bad, even when you don't understand why you have to endure the hardship.   Whatever trials you may be facing, God knows all about them and He loves you.

Remember, in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Phillipians 4:6)

"Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ" Ephesians 5:19-20 (NIV)

Blessings,

Cross Roads

Anthony Spencer is egotistical, proud of being a self-made business success at the peak of his game, even though the cost of winning was painfully high.

A cerebral hemorrhage leaves Tony comatose in a hospital ICU. He 'awakens' to find himself in a surreal world, a 'living' landscape that mirrors dimensions of his earthly life, from the beautiful to the corrupt. It is here that he has vivid interactions with others he assumes are projections of his own subconscious, but whose directions he follows nonetheless with the possibility that they might lead to authenticity and perhaps, redemption.

The adventure draws Tony into deep relational entanglements where he is able to 'see' through the literal eyes and experiences of others, but is "blind" to the consequences of hiding his personal agenda and loss that emerge to war against the processes of healing and trust.

Will this unexpected coalescing of events cause Tony to examine his life and realize he built a house of cards on the poisoned grounds of a broken heart? Will he also have the courage to make a critical choice that can undo a major injustice he set in motion before falling into a coma?

Well written and a great read!  Sure to be a best seller.

Some Parting Fun....

A man buys a parrot, only to have it constantly insult him. He tries everything to make the parrot stop, but nothing works. Frustrated, the man puts the parrot in the freezer.

After a few minutes the insults stop. The man thinks he might have killed the parrot, so he opens the freezer and takes the parrot out.

The parrot is shivering. It stammers, "S-s-sorry for being r-r-rude. Please f-f-forgive me." Then, after a moment, the parrot softly asks,

"W-w-what exactly d-d-did the turkey do?"
