Dear ,
Exodus 20:5, 6: "You shall not bow down to them or worship them for I the Lord your God am a jealous God visiting the iniquities of the fathers on the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love Me and keep my commandments."
The effort you make to instill Godly values within your family will have a lasting impact upon generations to come. While the decision to accept Christ and live a Godly life is up to each individual, the influence of parents can make a lasting impression in the lives of their children.
A great example can be found in Jonathan Edwards, the Puritan preacher from the 1700s. Jonathan and his wife Sarah left a great godly legacy for his 11 children.
At the turn of the 20th century, educator and Pastor A. E. Winship decided to trace out the descendants of Jonathan Edwards almost 150 years after his death. His findings are astounding, especially when compared to a man known as Max Jukes. Juke's legacy came to the forefront when the family trees of 42 different men in the New York prison system were traced back to him. (Jukes-Edwards: A Study in Education and Heredity - public domain http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/15623)
Jonathan Edwards' Godly legacy includes:
300 preachers, 1 U.S. vice President, 3 U.S. Senators, 3 governors, 3 mayors, 13 college presidents, 30 judges, 65 professors, 80 public office holders, 100 lawyers, 100 missionaries, 75 military officers, 56 physicians.
Max Jukes' legacy included:
7 murderers, 60 thieves, 50 women of ill-repute, 100 alcoholics, 130 other convicts, 310 paupers (with over 2300 combined years living in poorhouses), 400 who were physically wrecked by indulgent living, 300 died prematurely.
This is a powerful example showing how a parent's leadership can have a profound effect on their children. Pray for your children daily, ask God to protect them, bless them, and most of all pursue them, convincing them through the Holy Spirit into a loving relationship with Him.
Blessings,
Steve <><
Just Like YouThere are little eyes upon you and they're watching night and day. There are little ears that quickly take in every word you say. There are little hands all eager to do anything you do; and a little boy who's dreaming of the day he'll be like you. You're the little fellow's idol; you're the wisest of the wise. In his little mind about you no suspicions ever rise. He believes in you devoutly, Holds all you say and do; he will say and do, in your way when he's grown up just like you. There's a wide eyed little fellow who believes you're always right; and his eyes are always opened, and he watches day and night. You are setting an example every day in all you do; for the little boy who's waiting to grow up just like you. -author unkown

Happy, Happy, Happy

If you've watched the exceedingly popular A&E program "Duck Dynasty, "you already know the famed Phil Robertson. As patriarch of the Robertson clan and creator of Duck Commander duck calls, he fearlessly leads his family in a responsible work ethic and an active faith.
But what you don't know is his life before the show. In the pages of this book, you'll learn of Phil's colorful past and his wild road to the "happy, happy, happy" life he leads today. Before the "happy," Phil's passion for the outdoors and wild living led him down some shady paths. As a young husband and father, he became the proprietor of a rough bar and lived a life, as he says, of "romping, stomping, and ripping" for a number of years. He even left his wife and young boys for a short period of time.
Through it all, Phil Robertson has lived his life as a "called" man. Called to live off the land, called to leave a starring role in Louisiana Tech football (playing ahead of Terry Bradshaw) for duck hunting, called to wild living, called to create a new kind of duck call--and finally, called to follow God and lead a life of faith.
In this eye-opening and rousing book, you'll find stories that will shock you, as well as those that will inspire you. You'll get to know the man behind the legend, and you'll come away better for it.

Flag Day is a celebration of the adoption of the American flag by Continental Congress in the First Flag Resolution of June 14, 1777.
Although the 200-year anniversary of this date was celebrated by flying flags on public buildings and holding remembrances in several cities, Flag Day wasn't officially recognized until President Harry Truman signed it into law in 1949. Flag Day is observed each year on the June 14 anniversary.
Bernard J. Cigrand, known to the general public as the "Father of Flag Day," worked as a school teacher at Stony Hill School in Waubeka, Wisconsin. He held the first unofficial observance for Flag Day at that school in 1885, and today a bust of Cigrand stands in Waubeka at the National Flag Day Americanism Center.

On the day Mary received her learner's permit, her dad agreed to take her out for a driving lesson.
With a big grin, he hopped in behind the driver's seat.
"Why aren't you sitting up front on the passenger's side?" Mary asked.
"Mary, I've been waiting for this ever since you were a little girl, "Dad replied.
"Now it's my turn to sit back here and kick the seat."
