Dear ,
"Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29)
On Palm Sunday we celebrate the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem where people were waving branches and shouting; "Hosanna, Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord!" This grand entrance fulfilled prophecy recorded some 500 years earlier when Zechariah wrote, "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey" (Zechariah 9:9).
But did you know that this day was also the day that the Hebrew people were selecting the lamb for the Passover rememberance? The Paschal lamb very specifically selected for the Passover.
Jewish people worldwide celebrate the Passover feast. The feast, which has been kept for generations, commemorates the deliverance of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. (Exodus 12:14) The night before the Israelites left Egypt, the destroyer went through the land killing the firstborn of man and beast. Only those households with the blood of the Passover lamb on their doorposts were spared. Now, each household took a lamb which God said had to be without blemish. The lamb was then killed, and its blood put on the two doorposts and lintel of the house (Exodus 12:7).
Jesus also celebrated the Passover the night before He was crucified. But He was instituting the greater Passover. This time, it was not deliverance from Pharaoh and Egypt, but from Satan and his kingdom of darkness! It was not deliverance from slavery in Egypt, but from a life of bondage to sin to a life of liberty as free men in Christ! And the Lamb of God, Jesus, was to be the Paschal Lamb for all who will receive Him in faith.
Jesus, the Lamb of God, sacrificed Himself to set you free. And when the Son sets you free, you are free indeed!

A Seasoned Journalist Chases Down the Biggest Story in History. Is there credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God?
Retracing his own spiritual journey from atheism to faith, Lee Strobel, former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune, cross-examines a dozen experts with doctorates from schools like Cambridge, Princeton, and Brandeis who are recognized authorities in their own fields. Strobel challenges them with questions like How reliable is the New Testament? Does evidence for Jesus exist outside the Bible? Is there any reason to believe the resurrection was an actual event? Strobel's tough, point-blank questions make this Gold Medallion-winning book read like a captivating, fast-paced novel. But it's not fiction. It's a riveting quest for the truth about history's most compelling figure.

Humphrey's First Palm Sunday
|

A new follow-up to the popular Humphrey's First Christmas that finds Humphrey in the midst of Jesus' triumphal entry. The delightfully goofy camel we met in Humphrey's First Christmas is back, three decades older and not much wiser. He wants nothing more than to be the lead camel in the caravan, so he can improve his view. When the caravan leads him to Jerusalem, he crosses paths with Jesus making his triumphal entry. Humphrey is delighted to see Jesus, now a grown man, and remembers the Child to whom he gave his coveted blanket all those years ago in Bethlehem. Carol Heyer's rich acrylic paintings showcase the quirkiness of the camel and add humor to the story. Here is a book that both entertains and informs without ever straying from the meaning of Palm Sunday and the Easter holiday. Ages 4-8.

Some Parting Fun....
|
Terri asked her Sunday School class to draw pictures of their favorite Bible stories. She was puzzled by Kyle's picture, which showed four people on an airplane, so she asked him which story it was meant to represent.
"The Flight to Egypt," was his reply.
Pointing at each figure, Ms. Terri said, "That must be Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus. But who's the fourth person?"
"Oh, that's Pontius - the pilot", exclaimed Kyle.
