Dear ,
"You have made my days a mere hand-breadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Each man's life is but a breath" Psalm 39:4-5
When changing lanes the other day I noticed the "objects in this mirror are closer than they appear" warning on the passenger side mirror. For some reason that warning stuck in my mind and I began thinking about it as it might relate to my Christian walk.
As I ponder over it, I am reminded that our time on earth is but a tiny blip in the expanse of eternity and without a doubt, our last day here is always closer than it may appear. We don't like to think about this fact, but if we don't, we run the risk of putting things off that we really shouldn't. Things like telling someone how much he or she means to us, how much we love him or her. Or, things like putting our affairs in order so that our families won't have to suffer through difficult decisions while grieving our departure. Perhaps we need to take care of other things like asking forgiveness from someone or offering grace to someone who has hurt us. Maybe it's things like serving more, or giving more, or listening more. There are so many opportunities we should not overlook, as that day really is closer than it may appear. It is for certain that after we leave it is no longer possible to do any of these things.
My thoughts then reminded me of a little country church I had visited years ago. You've probably all seen a little white country church surrounded by a cemetery. A man at the church told me that many churches were built in such a way that the pulpit would face the cemetery to remind the pastor of the urgency of his message. Viewing the grave stones while presenting the Gospel would encourage the pastor to preach the truth about making things right with God while there was still time. The most important thing that each of us must do is to receive God's gift of salvation. It is freely given, we can't earn it, we can't buy it, but we must receive it; and we may only receive it while living.
Have you looked in the mirror of your life lately? Do you know that "objects in this mirror are closer than they appear"? Are there things to do before leaving your earthly journey?
Don't delay.

Bestselling author of Not a Fan, Kyle Idleman of Louisville's Southeast Christian Church, shares the powerful next step in becoming a completely committed follower of Jesus: recognizing and letting God defeat the gods at war within us---the false gods battling to rule our lives.
In Gods at War, bestselling author Kyle Idleman helps every believer recognize there are false gods at war within each of us, and they battle for the place of glory and control in our lives. We're all wired for worship, but we often end up valuing and honoring the false gods of comfort, money, sex, pleasure, legalism, family, the perfect body, and success, and that keeps us from the true, intimate relationship with God that we desire.
According to Idleman, idolatry isn't an issue---it is the issue.
By asking insightful questions, Idleman reveals which gods each of us are allowing on the throne. What do you sacrifice for? What makes you mad? What do you worry about? Whose applause do you long for? Then, using true, powerful and honest testimonies of those who have struggled in each area, Gods at War illustrates a clear path away from the heartache of our 21st century idolatry back to the heart of God.

All eyes are on the Middle East. Israel has successfully launched a first strike on Iran, taking out all of their nuclear sites and six of their nuclear warheads-and causing The Twelfth Imam to order a full-scale retaliation. US President William Jackson threatens to support a UN Security Council resolution condemning the Jewish State for unprovoked and unwarranted acts of aggression.
Meanwhile, CIA operative David Shirazi has infiltrated the Iranian regime and intercepted information indicating that two Iranian nuclear warheads survived the attack and have been moved to a secure and undisclosed location. In danger not only from the ongoing missile strikes on Iran but also from the increasingly hostile and suspicious governments of multiple countries, David and his team are in a race against time to find the remaining nuclear warheads before disaster strikes.

Some Parting Fun....
|
In 18th England they started running out of places to bury people. Consequently, people would dig up coffins and take the bones to a 'bone-house' and reuse the grave.
When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying people alive. So the clergy decreed that they should tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell.
Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the 'graveyard shift') to listen for the bell.
Thus, someone could be 'saved by the bell'. Also they could be considered a 'dead ringer.'
