Psalms 100:4, "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name."
A lot of us have issues that we struggle with around the holidays. We get discouraged with money, aggravated with family, worn out with events and activities, depressed over the way things should be but aren't. The list can go on and on.
Unfortunately when we allow discouragement, aggravation, weariness or depression to become the focus of our thoughts, and darken our attitude, they can zap the joy right out of our lives. Not only ours, but most likely the joy of all of those around us who love us and care for us.
The antidote for any and all of the things that would pull us into despair is a thankful heart. It's impossible to give praise and not be lifted from the pit that would drag us deeper into the depths. Think about Paul and Silas as they sat wrongly imprisoned in a damp, cold jail cell; did they have a pity party? NO!, They sang praises and rejoiced. Surely nothing we face this season could be any harder than what Paul and his friend endured. Even the weird uncle with obnoxious stories and an overstayed welcome.
So, if you find yourself being drawn toward a negative attitude, or begin feeling sorry for yourself or your circumstances, start singing, praying, giving yourself to others and remembering your blessings. You are a cherished child of God! There is nothing that could be so bad that His love won't overcome. Lift your heart in praise and thanksgiving and let Him return Joy into your spirit.

Each year while the world is caught up in the "Black Friday" rat-race, Christians are gathering at Logos Christian Bookstore to shop, save and share.
On Give Thanks Friday, 10% of every sale will be donated to missions. This year's thanksgiving will be donated to two very worthy missions; the Goshorn family, and The Care Mission
The Goshorn family, local residents who have been training for mission work in Peru, are currently expecting to leave just after Christmas. It has been a joy watching God work in their lives and provide the resources necessary for them to fulfill his calling to the mission.
The Care Mission is a local ministry dedicated to providing relief and assistance to those who need a helping hand. Located behind the Main Street Baptist church, the Care Mission is a worthy cause deserving of our support.
During the day, each mission will be on hand to share how God is working to provide needs locally and in Peru.
In addition to providing an offering to these two fine missions, you will enjoy homemade cookies and wassail as you shop for inspirational gifts, books, music, and many other fine products.
